Is beer bad for your gains? I drink a few cans on the weekend. One or two on weekdays.
>>
No, Arnold was drinking beer daily instead of milk during his bodybuilding days
>>

Alcohol is in fact very bad for you gains.
>so I should stop drinking?
Are you training to compete in an official event of some sort?
>no
then fuck no keep drinking dont be a square.
>yes
Gay. Have a drink and lighten up.

The Fuck you write?
>>
>>77105071
generally yes but at the same time no. you gotta make that decision if you look like shit. you might as well ask if you are eating too much or not
>>
>>77105082
Words. Read them if you're not a nigger or a zoomer or both. Chances are you're both.
>>

Any amount is bad if you're trying to build muscle and look good. Going hard in the gym only to get shitfaced next day is counterproductive and retarded.

Then again, life without alcohol is miserable and shit. So once again Daddy Saturn makes sure everything is balanced and you have to make sacrifices.

Alcoholics ARE squares who are too scared to fail a drug test
>>
>>77105157
the fuck kind of place are you working at where they include alcohol on a drug test?

>Alcohol is in fact very bad for you gains.
No it isn't retard. The calories can be a problem though for fatness.
>>
>>77105071
yes, alcohol is bad for your gains.
>>
>>77105071
So you’re drinking pretty much every day.. yeah that’s probably not good. Even drinking once a week is bad. I’d say limit your drinking to 1-2 times a month, and even then never get shitfaced drunk; Just two or three drinks is optimal or however much to get a light buzz going

Alcohol interferes with muscle protein synthesis, which is the process of our bidies building muscle. It actively prevents you from building the muscle responsible for gains so I stand by my correct statement that alcohol is bad for gains. If calories from beer become a problem then you have other issues that you're trying to drown.
>>
>>77105194
This anon >>77105274 is correct. Alcohol diminishes your gains. Enough alcohol (like getting shitfaced) outright nullfies any gains you could get for up to 48-72 hours.
It's because of mTor signalling, alcohol is a potent (in the amounts needed to get drunk) inhibitor of muscle protein synthesis.

Buried that demon

How true is this? I might have wasted 3 years of lifting.

It's hard to say "X amount of alcohol will cause Y reduction in gains" because there's a lot of factors, in addition to individual variability.
I'd say even 1 single beer (or alcohol equivalent) a day will not allow you to optimize your gains, but that might only be relevant for professional bodybuilders to whom having 48 cm rather than 50 cm of arm circumference will make him lose the podium.
For everyday dudes, 2-3 beers a day is enough to cause significant hindrance in your progress, particularly if you're not a noob anymore.
Enough alcohol to get you drunk (as in "you shouldn't drive" drunk) will pretty much nullfy your progress for a day, and hinder somewhat your protein synthesis for another 1-2 days. After that your body returns to default.

This does not account for dehydration, liver issues (which itself impair muscle hypertrophy by several mechanisms), and bad calories/macros management that may come with excessive alcohol consumption. So, assuming you're not drinking enough to fuck your body up and are staying properly hydrated, I'd say avoid getting shitfaced more than once or twice a year, limit alcohol intake for weekends, and drink no more than 4-5 drinks divided throughout friday night to sunday. This amount of alcohol per week will still impact your gains a little, but probably not enough to make much difference if you're not on stage.

Which state/region? I'm a southern.
>>
>>77105071
Alcohol is poison.
>>
I'm an alcoholic and I've still made gains
I work out hard and eat a shit ton of protein every day
my conclusion is that booze will only slow you down and not stop you from growing or even steal muscle away from you like some people say
>>
i drank today
>>
>>77105071
Individual response is highly varied.
I can't even one tallboy without it obliterating my sleep quality. That's horrible for lifting and general recovery.
>>
I've been an alcoholic for like 12 years now, it was easy as fuck to make gains in my early 20's, mid 20's too, I'm 32 now and yeah there's no way it can be done anymore, hangovers too bad.

Hit 2/3/4/5 at like 26 and im still at those weights now just fatter from drinking. so technically loss of progress.

overall just don't drink, a few beers here and then won't kill you but it does no good.
