Mewing is a meme because the idea behind it was flawed to begin with. It started on a shitty blackpill forum in 2014, Mike Mew had a “slayer jaw” (this was before “Chad” became the default) and he never claimed it helped your jaw. His thing was tongue placement for breathing, advocating against braces in children (you should wait until you’re an adult) and proper chewing techniques. Dr. Mew rode the wave initially being coy over if Mewing helped jaws and he admitted that it didn’t, but it could help prevent sleep apnea that’s proven to cause premature aging. I should know, I was there and I believed it for years.Then he went crazy a few years ago, started a bunch of weird alternative medicine stuff, got disbarred and is facing several lawsuits.
