People are waking up to the running scam...
>>77140665>thinking thin = oldTell me you're not seriously believing a retard on reddit right now anon...
What’s the mystery here exposure to the sun and wind ages your skin and face
>>77140674what does wind have to do with anything?
>>77140741Are you retarded? That's why cowboys look old so fast even if the cowboy hat keeps the sun off their face.I literally got a chapped brow and cheeks the year I was a ranch hand. I had to start wearing a zoro mask.
>>77140751a zorro mask covers only the eyes doe?
>>77140757...nevermind
>>77140757The ones I made covered my brow and upper cheeks above my beard. I made them from baby tee shirts that I bought at goodwill. I looked retarded, but it did prevent me from getting wind burn on my face.
>>77140665Post face
>>77140780good 4 u
>>77140741Blows more light into your face
>>77140751Anon, a lot of the radiation that hits your face doesn't come directly from the sun. UV rays reflect from the ground as well, I don't remember the number but it depends on the ground surface, probably close to 30% of UV rays are reflections. You need to wear a biker helmet to be safe from UV, a cowboy hat does not cut it. Also, cowboys spent 16 hours a day outside exposed to the elements.
>>77140751sailors too
>>77140873For what it's worth, we only spent about 9 hours a day outside, usually. 5AM to 2PM. After that, the day was usually over.Back to the bunk house for burgers and beer.
>>77140665My dad has been running marathons for 30+ years.Dude is 80 and still doing it.
people who run tend to have very low bf%coupled with not taking sunscreen so sun damage + low bf% = wrinkled old look you need a certain amount of facial fat to retain youthful looks
>>77140868/thread
>>77140665Maybe UV radiation and exposure to the elements play a tiny role, but the main culprit is the constant shaking.
>>77140665Because of UV radiation. Most runners seem to be under the belief that they can outrun all health problems but the body only has a limited amount of regenerative ability and with constant UV exposure your skin still ages rapidly.
>>77140665>it is so catabolic of activity that is stresses out you biologyKEK bro science is hilarious. It is the increased sun exposure. UV radiation ages you. It is why people who tan look like shit as they hit their late 20s.
>>77141085okay but does his face look old??
>>77141085Kek 60 year old man on 4chin
>>77140665absolute fucking catastrophe of a sentence jesus christ
>>77141242>>77140665being fat ages you faster.
>>77140780Nobody gives a shit, you low iq turd
>>77140665People who say runners look old are usually talking about those anorexic pro marathoners who literally shit themselves from runningThats like saying lifting will kill you, because some kid blasted tren out the wazoo and had a heart attack at 30
>>77140674>>77140751This doesnt happen unless you regularly sunburn.UV is good for your skin, helps cholesterol synthesis into "vitamin D" to support skin and bone health. Besides, they're constantly moving so it's not that, it's simply that it's overly stressful and catabolic. No one enjoys running.
>>77141242Yeah bro the source of life on earth alongside water and oxygen is going to age you automatically. Might kill you even if you dont watch out.
>>77140876This. When younger i knew some sailing circles and some really cute girls looked REKT after just a few years of it. Sure they were out on the water daily but by 22 they had deep wrinkles, sun damage etc.
As someone who gets his 10-40 minutes of noon sun every summer day (I have none of the weird common bias against the sun): too much sun ages you. The people who start getting prematurely old are, as anons say above, sailors and runners and ranchers. The girls you knew who laid out in the sun too much didn't last into their 30s. Construction people and road people and roofers...age like shit. Water skiers get dominated. My mother's family of 9 siblings grew up water skiing all summer long and they all have awful skin due to the frequent sun damage that was never allowed to heal. There seems to be a threshold at which you start getting too much sun. I'm 42 and have no wrinkles and look young despite intentional but limited sun exposure. If I'm going to be out in the sun for longer than a Vitamin D session I'll be wearing a wide-brimmed hat and long sleeves. These runners are out exposing their skin to the sun for hours at a time, multiple times a week, or even daily. Of course they look like shit.
>>77140665Go to any marathon and look at them. Yeah there will be some runners that look like they're in good shape, but most of them will be weirdly skinny and kind of look like they're falling apart.
>>77141251He looks like any other 81yr old >>77141258So, apparently he found his way on /pol/ after the 2016 election. He was watching all the meltdowns.Pretty funny.
>>77140674I only run at night. So the sun isn't a factor for me.
>>77140741
>>77140741ìt blows your youth away
>>77140741Even if it wasn't exposure to the elements, do you really think the "influencer lifestyle" of waking up at 5am for long distance running ("heavy into running" so I'm imagining at least 7 miles, outdoors – that's "heavy" for a normal person, not for some dysmorphic lard blob from Faggit), getting home and doing a whole beauty routine, making a delicious and appetizing and "aesthetic" Instagram-worthy lox breakfast, and then getting to work at 9am, is all PRACTICAL, day in and day out?You just want to cope more not being able to move too quickly without spraining your ankle, fatlard.
>>77141397Just because it's a drug doesn't mean it's enjoyable
>>77140674nobody ages worse than pro cyclists. 25+ hours per week in the sun and wind and rain while pushing their body to extreme limits
I know a 70+ guy who did a ton of trail running, nowadays he only walks but his hikes still have a pace that most fit young men would struggle to keep up with. He had to get a hip prosthesis and 3 days after the operation he was already walking without supports, even going up and down stairs. I think it's safe to say that he's still pretty damn fit, a wrinkly face is a small price to pay for this
>>77140669The bf % in runners (those who are heavy into it) is quite low, till the point of ill-looking. It’s normal, although not for the eye.>>77140674Most of runners barely use UV lotions or apply thin layer and that’s all.
>>77142674damn right
>>77142686>u forgot about hip replacement?a lot of people get it at that age, sedentary or not, and even after the operation I'd bet my ass he's still more fit and agile than (You)
>>77140665>>77140674treadmillKINGs win again
>>77140665exposure
Fucking retards. Home gym home treadmill home never leave the house never go into the sun take vit D supplements and have my gf do the shopping master race reporting
>>77141323Paced walking in the outdoors> running because running has you slack jawed the whole way as a mouthbreather. It's another W for strollchads
>>77142866Have you tried not mouthbreathing?
>>77140665Is it just me or is clinging to your youth pathetic? I'm 39 and everyone my age is panicking and I'm the only person who doesn't care.
>>77140741are you retarded
>>77140665it's just the fat going away. this is why adults in the 80s and 90s looked older than the fat faced losers of today. no facial definition`
>>77140665High mileage, high frequency running is probably not great for you for a variety of reasons. All that stress on the cardiovascular system and cortisol ain't good. Then there's the runner culture where being lean as fuck, eating carb heavy diets lacking in animal proteins, fats and collagens and of course the over exposure to the elements...But that's not to say running is bad for you or that cardio is bad for you. There's a massive benefit to running 2-3 quick 5ks a week or doing regular interval training to VO2 max. Big difference between someone who runs maybe 90-180mins in a week vs someone who runs 90-180 mins or more daily.
>>77142910Yeah but I don't get enough O2 nose breathing. This is for running, not granny jogging.
>>77142997Sounds like your nose might be fucked. Deviated septum?
>>77140741drying out skin i would imagine. Having dry skin slows down and impairs a billion different things in terms of keeping it healthy
>>77142999No, I even had had palate expansion which opens nasal airways.
>>77141258Nta but Im 32 my dad is 80. My youngest sibling is 20. My uncle had his first kid at ~65
>>77142915That fucking piece of shit wagie should get thrown in the hole for life for selling liquor to minors like that. Fucking scum of the earth ruining our communities. Ptooh pthooah i spit on you disgusting cashier man
>>77140665Running was the first real form of "exercise." Bill Bowerman noticed that natives in New Zealand or something stayed fit that way and started doing it and then it caught on. I probably got that horribly wrong.Anyways that is why it has persisted, despite being perhaps the worst form of cardio, and 'cardio' being the worst form of exercise.'Cardio' is binary. Either you're in basically good cardio shape, or you're not. It is very, very easy to get into good cardio shape. And it doesn't require hours of running. And once you are in good cardio shape, you're basically getting the same health benefits cardio nuts get from it. There is no real 'more=better' thing with it. You just need your heart and lungs and such to be basically healthy. Lifting for most guys will do that much. So there's just no real good reason for almost anyone to do cardio. It's just tradition and inertia.
>>77144641He's 37 you know, just looks 17.
>it's another "i saw a post that activated my confirmation bias so i will double down on being retarded" episodesasuga dana /fit/ kun
>>77141454I can be out all day in the Scottish high lands and not get sun burnt. It's not so much the sun giving us white people too much exposure, it's us being in the wrong part of the world bathing in heavy rays for too long that's the problem. In other parts of the world we don't toast and we absorb nutrients just as well as the darkies in America.
>>77141373Yes.
>>77144892Thats bullshit dude.
>>77144909Definitely true about where in the world you're from. I have some Irish ancestry and live in a place that is way, way sunnier. For comparison, I asked Grok for average UV index in Iverness vs. Mobile, Alabama. The difference is massive. Your/their summers peak UV index is their lowest, middle of winter. Totally different ballgame.
>>77141242This is the actual reason.
>>77144961>>77145025
>>77145025I doubt anyone reads your posts
>>77141694I was just on my way to stand in place for 40,000 years until I saw this post, thanks anon.
>>77141373water and oxygen in high amount will also kill you, fucking retard
