I've lost a lot of weight in the past year, down from 280 to 185 lbs (6'4), I've been eating high protein and lifting and whatnot but I have virtually no muscle (I've been trying to finish the cut before I bulk up, that's next on my to-do list).
I have a fair bit of loose skin but there's still a decent bit of fat in it, what weight should I strive for to be lean enough that my loose skin is actually loose? I've been thinking 175 but I'm not too sure if I should go further than that, don't want to be anorexic lol. I'm hesitant to gain weight until I finish the cut because I want to get the hard stuff out of the way first. I've been on a 750 cal deficit for a while, currently looking to end it in early May but idk if I should prepare to go farther than that.
Any advice /fit/bros? (185 lbs, 6'4) (inb4 you're not 6'4)

Good job with the cut bro, I assume because you dropped so much weight and “didn’t put on much muscle” your exercises were cardio heavy? If not idk how you managed to drop all that weight without gaining a decent amount of muscle mass.

Just for starters, I would advise you to avoid bulking for a while, especially after you just dropped all that weight. With someone your height I think staying around 180ish and focusing on body recomp wouldn’t be a bad idea, any lower weight and you’ll probably run the risk of looking like a stick figure. You can gain plenty of muscle mass as a beginner without bulking, and when you hit the beginners plateau that’s not a sign you should start bulking, it’s a sign you should up your intensity and organize your diet more if it wasn’t already. Many beginners, myself included, wrongly assumed they should bulk before they have a good training regime and ended up just having to dig themselves out of an obesity hole. Assuming your exercises were cardio heavy, I would switch to more resistance training and begin progressive overload. Try to swap your diet over from one for cutting to one for muscle gain and body recomp.

Isn’t it a coincidence how less than 7% of the US is 6ft, yet every second fitizen is 6ft / 6’2/6’3 kek

Man I'm always surprised at how much I have to lose to get true lean.
Here is me at 205, 6"2', I figured I'd cut 20 and have abs at 180-185

Id say don't obsess too much over the scale, just make sure you're getting stronger and looking better, clothes are fitting better etc

On the scale I've only lost 1kg over the last year or so but my bench has gone from 100kg x 3 to 110kg x 3 and my 30" waist pants fit me again, down from 34". When you're beginner/intermediate maingaining is real, you legitimately can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. I'm way leanee, stronger and in better shape even though I almost weigh the same. id say eat quite a bit of food (750 deficit is too high) but make sure it's all good food, no sweets or junk food, and keep training hard, making sure you're getting stronger. You'll see as your muscles fill out and fat melts away
