how can i get rid of lower stomach fat as a girl? im not fat (5'7 115lbs) but i have a piece of stubborn fat that sticks out under my belly button, it looks awful in tight clothes. do men ever get this? ive never gone to gym, would i have to work out to get rid of it? or just lose weight?

You wouldn't be spot reducing it. You'd just be growing muscle under it so it spreads around more at best. Make the area bigger so the layer of fat stretches thinner. Only works if it's a small amount of fat though.

Actually spot reducing is impossible, fat loss will always be spread through all the places you have fat but this can create an illusion of spot reduction

In general working out + cardio + diet might help, but unfortunately you burn the fat from your belly area the latest. By diet I mean you should watch your macros for a while and eat plenty of protein, lower sugar and fat intake. You don't necessarily have to go to a gym, bodyweight exercises at home are also good, but women usually love the gym for the leg exercise machines. Running is also doable without a gym. It might be daunting at first, but if you only take one step at a time fitness is a wonderful journey. After a while you'll just do it because you realize how good it makes you feel in your body and chasing looks becomes secondary. The sticky has a lot of good info and a lot of useful information for starting out.

2) you probably just have weak abs in general so you’d benefit from any core exercise, especially since any “lower” ab exercise will still activate your entire rectus abdominis muscle. But if you’re looking for core exercises that target the lower insertions point: leg raises (hanging better), straight leg holds, mountain climbers, L-sits, and basically anything else that tilts the pelvis forward and requires it and the legs to be stabilized will make you feel more of a burn in the lower portion of your abs.

Also, the portion of your abdomen just below your belly button houses your bladder, uterus (if you’re a woman), and colon, so its pretty packed and if you haven’t used the bathroom in a while it’ll make you look a little fatter. More core tone will hide it better since more muscle mass will resist being pushed out.

What you think is fat is most likely just your lower abdominal wall bulging out due to globally weak core muscles, so don’t just focus on lower ab exercises, do total core exercises that target your entire rectus abdominis and your obliques.

THIS. Ab-bulking is a lot more effective than further cutting for getting definition once you're down below around 15% bodyfat, more muscle lowers your bodyfat percentage too.
