The closest you can get to intensity is 1rms, same for sprinting when it comes to cardio.
Yes it would work but you have to micromanage it and not rely solely on it otherwise you'll burn out very quick

also isometrics do not really cause hypertrophy (only secondary)
you mainly gain muscle endurance and stability
but isometrics are fairly bad at actually growing new muscle fiber
they are great at supporting it though

the way he's doing them is completely useless though

yes
but it'll be less effective than just doing it for longer once
also depends on your goals if this is useful though

assuming it's something that keeps you under tension
then it'll help with muscle endurance (just like any isometric)
but you likely sacrifice some hypertrophy for it
and won't be able to do as many reps due to muscle fatigue

if your goal is to get big as quick as possible, this is obviously not helping

Because if you're able to repeatedly lift and hold up a weight, it means that it's far beyond your maximum voluntary contraction. If you push against an immovable weight, then that is 100% of your maximum voluntary contraction.
