thoughts on rest pause sets?
>>
very good, i do up to 8 reps to failure, then rest 15 sec, then do half the initial reps

then final set is 5,4,3,2,1 with 8rm

are there any exercises where you avoid rest pause and rather do straight sets? i do straight sets on leg day, but considering doing rest pause for leg extensions and curls at least

Db bench, it just doesn't work with rest pause for me. It takes too much energy to move them into rest position, they are over my bw in total weight

rest pause allowed me to break through my plateaus, but they also caused a tendonitis in my bicep so be careful. i'd honestly put them at high risk high reward

did you do enough warmup sets? i always have to warm my biceps up way more than any other body part

saved lifting for me without having to cut back on frequency. i lift 5 days a week so it's been great

If you can do 4 reps after just 15 secs, you didn't go to failure the first time. You should be able to do 2 at most.

just do a drop set instead of this weird shit that requires a spotter

>eccentric overload
They're all valid ways to break a plateau. You shouldn't do them on every exercise, but if you feel like a muscle needs a little bit more love or you feel like you could have pushed a set harder, they're great tools.

I tend to do rest pause on machines, mostly for legs, it's great on leg press when you want to hammer out an extra rep or two.

free weights I prefer drop sets, the goat being on lateral raises. just run the rack down on your last working set. gives an insane pump.

You guys are overcomplicating things.

wtf are you talking about

it's actually extremely simple and a well established method. it just saves you time and is great if you prefer low volume and high intensity
