Why would I buy a treadmill if I can just run outside? And for some reason if I can't do that, why don't I just run in place?
>>

how do you run in place without a treadmill?
>>
>>77152243

>1) Immune to cold/wind/rain/heat.

>2) Instead of always walking the same 1-2 paths I can put on whatever I want on the screen.

and the big one:

>3) No risk of meeting people I know.

I never use a treadmill without setting the incline high.
Some people live in some Nebraska type of terrain and have no hills

I use it for walking hours upon hours on end during my workday. I'm not super busy, but I'm on kind of a short leash to the desk, so lately I PC vidya during downtime. Hitting 16k steps daily this way.

I prefer it because it forces you to keep up with the pace so you can't get lazy, it's easier to track progress and slowing it down feels shameful so that's also a good motivator. Also I get to run barefoot but not everybody is down with that

>why don't I just run in place?
I did that once when I was fat. The guy in the apartment below mine came up and asked me what the fuck I was doing.

I love seeing people walk on a treadmill with the incline ramped up and they're holding onto the handlebar, leaning back so that they're perfectly perpendicular to the belt. You're not walking up an incline anymore, you're just walking straight while hilding yourself back at an angle. It has no biomechanical difference to walking on flat, level ground.

enduring rain and mud and other shit doesn't make you cool, just poor
(trying to look cool here, on the other hand, makes you a little shit)

>infinite paths
mongoloid, in what fantasyland do you live?

>[more attempts at looking cool and therefore looking like a little shit]

average /fit/ poster in 2026.

Drop a metal stick onto a concrete/asphalt surface and watch it bounce.

Now try it on a treadmill.

Ask yourself, "What surface is softer"?
