Any mussel fans? They're great for protein, manganese, and omega-3.

mussels are great. don't eat them often enough!

Yeah i like mussels, but i don't think they're worth the effort. Other seafood is equally nutritious and also tastes great, but can also be prepared much faster or just snacked.
>>
I used to love them but I eat them too often and lately I've been getting tired of them. Will probably have them for lunch since I was out of town and all meat in my fridge is frozen. Cheap, tasty and nutritious but becomes bland when you eat them too often.

I thought shellfish (clams, oysters, mussels) are too high in mineral content to consume more than semi-regularly.

Becareful Anon, dont poison yourself

Yep, eat them every week when they are in season, I live 2-3 hours from a big mussel farm so they are cheap and fresh.

Heres my recipe:

In a big wok/pot I put:

Butter and Olive oil
Diced Shallots/Garlic
White Wine
Salt/Black Pep
Chilly Flakes

Saute all this for 5 mins on low heat until fragrant

Put the mussels in - heat on medium high, stir everything (carefully) and put the lid on.

Usually after 5-7 mins they will open up which means they are ready, garnish with fresh parsley and (lemon optional).

Great source of Iodine btw.

Mussels aren't that hard. Just rinse and yank off the beards. Throw out the obviously dead ones. Chuck it in a pan with a lid, dunk with some wine, oil, and aromatics and simmer for like 10-12 minutes. Serve with fresh bread. The longest part is sorting them out, but they're so cheap and delicious that I really don't mind.

I live in nola area so i eat a ton of seafood

I think you mean heavy metal content.
When is the last time you have ever heard of or read about someone without an allergy being negatively affected by eating too much shellfish?
Oh that's right, never.
Amerifats will find any excuse to avoid seafood just as /fit/ finds any excuse to avoid vegetables.

I used to be really into these when I was younger, nowadays it just seems like I'm eating a bunch of tiny organs and feels gross

can't tell until you've cooked them
>>
>>77166763
They are literally me fr.
>>
>>77166264
you can get the frozen ones, it's literally as simple as dropping them in a pot, covering, and waiting 10-15 minutes
don't taste as good of course, but are still fine with a good garlic butter and i'd eat them regardless due to how damn healthy they are

Yeah? Isn’t that why we workout?
>>

any that have broken shells you toss. Any that are open, tap them a few times then set them down for a minute. If they don't close back up, they're dead
Any that were closed with undamaged shells are alive and can be eaten
>>
>>77166353
too high of minerals is a good thing, your body will store what you need and piss out the rest
>>
>>77166486
Vegetables are fucking useless and nutritionally empty

Bottom feeding sea cockroaches. These things suck up all the trash from the ocean floor and you want to eat them? They are the most dangerous seafood for a reason.
