Why is rice the staple carb instead of potatoes?
>>
>>77167143
Rice is cheaper to produce, more resistant to crop failures and easier to store and ship
>>
Because of 90s bodybuilders shilling it, it's this simple
>>
>>77167143
Easier to cook
>>
>>77167185
putting potatoes in a hot oven for 30 minutes is way easier than rinsing, and measuring rice.
>>
>>77167143
Potato is a filthy underground plant tumor from the deadly nightshade family while rice is a majestic and noble grass swaying gracefully in the breeze.
>>
>>77167143
because you can grow potatoes in your backyard for free. you just have to remember not to get into the potato box.
>>
>>77167200
Except rice leeches every heavy metal it can find and no amount of cooking or rincing can help with that inb4 dont buy asian brands. ALL rice does that, it's inherent to the plant.
>>
>>77167143
Partly cost, as you can get many more individual meals out of a $4 bag of rice compared to the five potatoes you can get for the same price. I think another reason is that rice is a lot more "visible" in popular culture, for some reason people don't glorify potatoes nearly as much as they should.

That said, I like both. I eat pasta and potatoes for my carbs much more often than rice.
>>
>>77167143
It is

Its a burger and fries not a burger with a half cup of white rice
>>
Because bodybuilders traditionally all did low fat diets and rice with zero fat added tastes good. But potato with zero fat added is really hard to get down

I do think it’s retarded to eat something with such high glycemic index but it’s also so satisfying to buying a massive bag of rice and know you never need to purchase another carb for a year or more.
>>
>>77167217
>potatoes are too expensive
lol, lmao
>>
>>77167205
Touché
>>
>>77167143
who said rice is a staple carb?
i eat mashed potatoes most days

rice is only cheap if you buy the unwashed lead filled rice (unironic lead also) from cheap korean grocery stores that you have to literally wash. you also have to buy it in those huge bulk bags.
anyways, ain't worth it.
lead toxicity from eating rice every single day is fucking retarded.
>>
Rice is easier to mealprep
>>
>>77167234
All I said was that rice is cheaper, where did I even imply potatoes were too expensive? Learn to read.
>>
>>77167143
I dont like peeling potatoes and they grow eyes which is creepy
>>
>>77167143
I love both, personally it comes down to what the meal is for. If it's pre-workout I go for rice for the huge energy boost. If it's morning, I go for potatoes for the long lasting energy.
>>
>>77167143
Oats with ketchup is superior in every way
>>
>>77167143
I've been meal prepping rice for months and I got good poisoning from the last batch I ate. I switched to potatoes today and should have done so way earlier. It's an extra 10 min prep with rinsing and peeling and they taste so much better and they won't poison me fast with bacteria or slow with arsenic.
All my rice is now going into prepper storage and I'll just buy potatoes day to day
>>
>>77167385
I just get golden potatoes with the thin tender skin so i dont need to peel. But i generally agree the rice is easier to prep
>>
Why can I buy egg yolks/whites from the store, but I still got to peel my potatoes?
>>
>>77167143
Rice stores easier. That’s mostly it. Costs are about the same, prep time is similar enough in large batches if you’re ok with mashed potatoes. I can buy 50lbs of rice and keep it dry and it will last practically forever. I can buy 10lbs of potatoes and they’ll start to go bad before I can eat all of them.
>>
>>77169286
I chop and freeze mine but it's freezer space now.
>>
>>77167199
nigga just poke a hole in it and press the potato button on your microwave
>>
>>77169279
You can buy canned taters
>>
>>77167143
>he doesn’t combo both
Ngmi
>>
>>77167143
for me the ability to measure, lets say i need to eat 50g of raw rice or 60g, with potatoes it's kinda hard to plan ahead
>>
>>77167185
meh, it's literally the same, you have to disinfect the potatoes and then just throw them in the oven/instant pot/ microwave
>>
>>77167143
Rice is easier to farm and when eating you don't have to add a shit ton of butter and oil to make it edible
>>
>>77169310
Id rather literally starve than eat a microwaved potato. Taste and texture of fucking damp cardboard
>>
>>77167234
potato for a brain.
>>
>>77167233
Boil the potatoes with baking soda for 10min before baking and they get crispy and delicious, no oil needed.
>>
>>77167143
>sriracha mayo shrimp fried rice and onions+sugar+oil beef bbq
Match it westcuck I dare you. Challenge me in my own domain.
>>
>>77169819
>onions
Fuckin so1saws
>>
Sliced bread is my favorite. Felt terrible yesterday, needed to eat immediately. Fucking toaster gave it to me in a minute.
>>
>>77169602
>I'd rather starve than eat a microwaved potao
Man your life must suck so bad
>>

>>
I got one of them japeener rice cooker, it is a game changer, it makes perfect rice every time and keeps it hot for days.
>>
>>77167205
Imagine being done over by rice
>I'm sorry to tell you this but... you're dying of rice.
>>
>>77169124
brah didn't get bad poisoning he got that GOOD poisoning
>>
>>77167143
Rice has better dishes more versatile
>>
>>77169965
It's not the best but it's not worse than eating a micro potato. The disappointment of wasting my time eating something so gross
>>
rice is significantly easier to work with. less preparation, less prone to defects, faster to cook...
and in my opinion there are more dishes it is suitable for compared to taters. even if you could argue to me that potatoes are actually marginally better for certain purposes, I wouldn't care because rice is close enough and far and away more convenient.
>>
>>77167143
>staple carb
Things slaves need.
>>
>>77170317
Why is it that the people who talk like this are always the biggest goyim?
>>
>>77167143
Rice stores longer, weighs less, and doesn't ferment in your gut like potato starch.
I definitely enjoy potatoes more and you make them suitable for Asian cuisine easily with white pepper, sesame oil, crushed garlic, kewpie and green onion but the farts are gonna happen.
>>
I was at Walmart today and potatoes are like $1.54 PER POTATO
>>
>>77171048
In what form? They're still roughly $1/lb for 5lb bags the pick and choose sections are usually up to about 1.25/lb with 1.40+/lb being the norm for sweet potatoes and exotic cultivars. Only time I've seen potatoes that high is for the weird "we took some vegetables put it on a Styrofoam tray and shrink wrapped it like meat so germaphobes will think it's better" kind of bs.
>>
>>77170021
seconded
got a cheap chinese rice cooker, probably the best 50 eurobux I've ever spent
I just dump some rice in that shit before the first meal and boom hot infinite carbs for the rest of the day and beyond
>>
>>77169602
Dude just wrap it in foil before you microwave it so it steams. Ezpz.
>>
>>77171335
Also a good way to create Zyklon B and exterminate 6M lice
>>
>>77169286
get a ceramic potato storage vase, thought it was a meme but my mother got one and it easily doubled the expire life of her potatoes.
