Is protein actually good for you?
>>
>>77167483
Why are capitalists so obsessed with making money?
>>
>>77167508
have you tried it?
>>
We went from 'gluten-free' to 'protein pro'. I wonder what would be next.
>>

we'll be eating bugs
>>
>>77167578
You said that 10 years ago
>>

That falls under protein. Or at least protein adjacent.

>>
>>77167483
Most people need as much protein as they think.
>>
>>77167569
Fiber is the next trend, mark my words.
>>
>>77167569
>>77167798
Yeah fiber, it's already a thing where people are making it an actual goal they they try and hit
>>
>>77167483
>Protein Doritos
What exactly am I supposed to be mad about here
>>
They're preparing people for a meat-less world. You'll be forced to get protein from vegan sources.
>>
>>77167612
Point out the mistake
>>
>>77167840
NTA but "Protein pro" and "I wonder what would be next" are awkward phrasings. You'd typically say "I wonder what WILL be next."
>>
>slop, now with protein!
I'll pass
>>
>>77167580
You are already eating bugs if you eat processed flours. Thats if you are european, if you are american you are probably eating something way worse.
>>
>>77167798
Fiber was the trend a decade or two ago. They even sold "fiber" yogurts to women, and to them specifically. Those yogurt were a huge low hanging fruit meme and the women were embarrased of admitting they were buying it because everyone would make jokes about the woman in question shitting herself. Good times, bring back harassing women.
>>
>>77167798
>>77167811
You should eat more fibre, thoever.

Gut health.

If the kikes are pushing it this hard, probably not.
>>
>>77167883
If you shit normally, if your doctor doesnt prescribe it, if you eat any amount of grains and carbohydrate
You dont NEED fiber
What you need is energy (lipids or carbohydrate) + amino acids + minerals + other non-mineral micronutrients i.e vitamins
These are things you can get sick or function less than optimally if you're not having them. Chugging down cellulose is for cows
>>
>>77167569
I think keto or low carb in general was last year's big thing, gluten-free is catering to a legitimate health issue; it's not really a health meme. I agree that fiber or gut health will be the next meme for niggercattle consoomers.

It's nicher than you think and secluded into very specific discussion forums and 1k views instagram reels

When that happens, it will mean the West is finally healing.

My wife misses those times because there was so much variety of high fiber yogurt.
Nowadays, it's only prune and it tastes like shit.
>>

You can only synthesize 0.8g of protein for every pound of lean mass you have under ideal conditions as a male

Anyone who can't get that in 2-3 meals from whole meat and dairy simply isn't going to make it

Consumerism‘s attempt to sell health as literally anything but just intuitive exercise and eating a balanced diet.

More generally I‘d love to see all advertisement banned. Nobody has ever tried to sell me on just eating broccoli or a regular chicken breast because the only function of capitalism is to make us fat and retarded. Concurrently there is zero point in introducing macros to desk slobs who can‘t process it anyway because the last time they lifted something above 15 lbs was 2018.

Why did you go gluten free if your body can tolerate it just fine?

Fiber is already old news. A lot of the propaganda around plant based diet fads was based around the supposed health benefits of fiber, and now there's a massive problem with people especially women ruining their digestion due to these diets.

Cholesterol similarly, cholsterol is a proxy for ancient/evoilutionary foods so companies looking to replace them with modern foods had to demonise it. This is the basis of the whole proctor and gamble Ancel Keys saturated fat bad movement in the mid 20th century.

So now we have this trifecta of low cholesterol, high fiber, fake protein "foods",

Yes, I do. And fondly: I made a ton of money betting against their stock when they were at their peak in like 2021.
>>
>>77167798
I remember fiber being a big thing when I was a kid in the 90s. Then when I became a teenager it was about trans fats, then in college it was about gluten-free. Now it's about protein and I have no clue what they'll glob onto next.

Most foods with "protein" written on the packaging are bullshit that don't have that much protein compared to the shitload of calories they have, that's the tradeoff. It's like when "no trans fats" really translated to "lots of other kinds of fat"
>>
>>77171955
They'll find some obscure shit. If you look at keto, that was originally some diet for spastic kids to make their brain work better and then they started acting like it would be good for everyone else. So whatever's next is probably just some shit that someone right now actually needs to eat, like how protein is good for people who work out but pointless for the kind of sofoids who buy a “starbucks high protein coffee”.
>>
Protein drinks are fun (but I ain’t paying for that shit), protein cereal is pushing it, protein chips is pants on ass retarded
>>
>>77172106
I think protein chips could be a good idea actually. I know you can turn onions beans into something like rice crispies so you can probably make a decently tasting high protein snack. Fat levels could be an issue, but even then you're still just dealing with a chip that has slightly better macros.

None of these things are bad in theory, you can just tell they'll be absolutely useless because it's big food slop companies pumping them out to meet trends instead of some business with an actual focus on health food.
>>
>>77167508

Because 'number go up' is how they derive pleasure in life. They're largely incapable of play and contentment in the experience of existence so that, even with obscene wealth, they don't know how to enjoy themselves except to make more money and accrue more resources; an insatiable materialistic appetite.

It's great to have enough money to be largely free of the worries that plague so many people's daily lives; to be able to live freely and without want but to go beyond that is pure avarice. It's a sin for a reason.

The typical American isn't not getting enough protein. There is enough of it in the random stuff we eat to meet our needs. You would have to eat a terrible vegan diet or starve yourself for protein intake to be an issue.

This is the result of GLP-1s that everyone is on. You cant eat on that shit, so what you DO eat, it has to be high in protein.

protein is not enough nowadays. they started adding creatine to squeeze out more money.

they are insanely overpriced imho (1,5€) for what they are. they taste alright but not better than the 0,8€ counterparts but money thats just me being jewish with money.
>>
>>77167483
Protein is good for you. Ultrahypergiga processed slop is bad for you. Getting your protein from eggs, meat and legumes that you cook and season yourself is good for you. Eating your body weight in High Protein Doritos is bad for you. Consuming naturally high protein foods is good for you. Spending $5 extra on Cheerios with 10% more protein (ie 1g more) is bad for you.

It's not that fucking hard guys
>>
>>77175970
>1.5g of creatine
What's the point? It's not hard at all to pound down a glass of water with a single scoop of creatine. Why complicate it?
>>
>>77168237
Correct message, absolutely retarded delivery. You've made everyone on both sides of the argument mad.
>>
The reason they're putting protein in everything is pretty simple: GLP-1s

GLP-1 medications are in the process of killing the junk food market, and these companies can no longer rely on volume of garbage sold to turn a profit. They have to develop new products that adapt to the new GLP-1 reality.

That reality is that fatties didn't actually get smarter or change their diets. They're not counting calories or tracking macros. They still want to eat the same garbage they did before, but now they just can't eat as much. And their doctor is telling them they need to eat more protein to avoid "ozempic face". The fatty can't eat *both* the sugary garbage and a high-protein whole food; the GLP-1s won't let them.

So they put the protein in the sugary garbage. Problem solved as far as the fatty is concerned.

Insightful. I have a couple family members on ozempic and this is exactly what they’re doing, eating all the same junk except maybe a couple versions of said junk with “added protein” because their doctors sufficiently scared them into it.

isnt it more about quality and not quantity. bioavailability is more important than just sheer amount of protein. plant based food usually has way lower bioavailability than animal based proteins.
