Anyone else feel like theyre lifting for the wrong reason? I have hit 1/2/3/4 and beyond, have a girlfriend and now I just go to the gym because.... Well because I like the attention and social aspect of it. I like talking to my gym bros and getting mires from the women and talking to them too. However, since I have a gf now, it feels wrong to keep doing this, and feels vain. I do like my physique and I think it sets me apart from a lot of the lazy slobs in my generation, but should I consider looking for a new hobby?
>>77167653You already chose the wrong reason when you decided to start lifting.
>>77167655When I was a high school student in weight training class?
>>77167653I lift in case a bunch of retards decide to fuck with me
>>77167653Dude donβt get comfortable in a relationship. One of my old friends found out the hard way.
>>77167653Now pick up a skill-based sport that puts your muscles to use
>>77167653Based on what you said, it seems stopping will crash ur self confidence
>>77167653No, I'm very secure in my reasoning. I exercise to stay healthy and functional well into old age first, for aesthetic purposes second. I don't consider it a hobby, it's bodily upkeep akin to brushing teeth, even if generally more enjoyable. There is no reason to quit, ever. I don't consider aesthetics to be vain, either. Humanity appreciates beauty in all aspects, no one would call creating beautiful art vain. Your girlfriend is sure to appreciate it as well. People worthy of respect would rather deal with men whose bodies embody discipline and self-care.
>>77167653Just change intention. Become a survivalist schizo. or maybe a combat schizo. I think being a survivalist schizo is better tbdesu.
>>77167653>Anyone else feel like theyre lifting for the wrong reason?Nope
I exercise because I love the feeling of pushing my body until it's completely exhausted and run down. Because I love punching the sandbag and running until my feet hurt. That's why I only work out twice a week for close to 4 hours for that feeling of euphoria. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother exercising. I don't even interact with anyone at the gym, I already gave up on trying to get a gf years go.
You won't make it. You'll peter out soon.
>>77167653I lift because it makes the 90% of the time when I'm not lifting feel easier.
>>77167653Yeah I feel like I lost sight of my goal. I started lifting for my health, but I'm concerned with aesthetics and getting stronger.
>>77167653I lift for my anime wife
>>77167653If youβre single, you lift to get a girl. If you have a girl, you lift to keep her around or get another.
>>77167653Sounds like you just enjoy the gym as a third space where you hang out to socialize. It seems healthy and I don't get why you'd be concerned.
>>77167653Not going to the gym anymore even though you enjoy it because you're afraid of getting mired by girls because it feels wrong now that you have a girlfriend... Is cuck behavior. I'm not saying to cheat or anything, but she needs to know that if she were to leave the picture she would be quickly and easily replaced. Not in a malicious way, just in the "wow this guy is probably slightly out of my league" way. If you cuck yourself for her, she will lose respect for you. They can't help it, it's just nature.>>77168488Also this.
>>77167672Based and the best reason to lift.
>>77167653Lift to invoke lust in women and fear in men
>>77167655we're all gonna be lifting for israel pretty soon
>>77167653>>77167655you were supposed to do it for a sport dummy
>>77169588always works the other way around btw
>>77167653I mostly do fight specific lifting. I'll spar and hit the bag and think of what I could add or improve on and try to think of some new shit that improves performance.First off bench high punch hard>yeah but delts and arms assuming core and legs I am over 2x punching power from the old daysLegs and core for wrestling >bigger back squat and abs is more control easilyBjj>forearms arms and grip and I learned while weakKickboxing>vertical and athletic shit like american football and olympic lifting
I started to lift because I didn't want to be skinny and weakNow I go to maintain my gains, 1x or 2x a week. After a while it does get boring and pointless, but it's worth it to transform your body, it's just that it has diminishing returns, gymcelling for many years will just make you feel empty, you need to do other things as well
>>77169693This is my scenario too. But an hour workout twice a week is a SMALL price to pay. Everyone needs to work out. That's just modern life. Getting in great shape and then maintaining it is the only smart path.
