Yesterday i completed a 9 minute mile.
I am 5,7 220 lbs

My test day is april 28th.

Nice good stuff. A month is not too long but you are pretty close already. What are you doing right now and how much time do you have to train? Do you have access to a pool, track, or bike? You did not give much information in the post for people to give advice, so its hard to say anything.

run 3 times per week.
One slow, long run (around 7-7:30 min/km pace for 40+ minutes)
One medium paced run (5-6 min/km pace for 4-6 km)
One HIIT run (basically try to run 1 km as fast as you can without dying. aim for a <5 minute pace. then do a short break and go again)
Mixing up running styles/intensities is important for building good cardio.
1.5 miles in 15 minutes is slow as hell btw, should be easily doable.

Running at your body composition is a bad idea. Focus on zone 2 cardio and losing weight first. IDK what you are testing for but you are extremely unhealthy and getting back in shape will take longer than you have.

You are not ready. The entrance exam is just part of it. They will wash you out during training, where you also have PT testing.
If you are serious about the firefighter thing (doubtful since you didnt take preparing seriously), then train hard for a year before you do it.
They will wash you out for any reason. Its very difficult for firefighters to get fired once they are hired, which is why selection and probationary period are so strict.
Im just being real with you, my sister is married to a firefighter so Im surrounded by those retards constantly and know quite a lot about the lifestyle and entry.

You have to really want. Furthermore, your entire life going forward will be physical fitness and training, because thats all they do between jobs. You cannot be a video game neet or whatever led to your current size.
Effective firefighters are large men. There are firefighters your height but they also have to have massive power and bulk to make up for it.

The time to get serious for selection training was at least 1 year ago.

The thing is the entrance exam is to a sponsorship program for emt and fire fighter 1 and 2 college program.

I am still going to go attempt it and by then I will be in much better shape to start school.

You have plenty of time. Last year my gf signed us up to run a 5k, and I literally couldn’t even run a full mile. I got exhausted after half a mile. I ran every Friday morning before work for 2 months and I was able to finish the 5k relatively easily. Running gains are so fast it almost makes me to become a /roon/ fag

Unless you have a medical exemption or you're like 15%bf, they won't take you. And yes they'll let you torture yourself all the way to MEPs just for the doctor to tell you no.
