Useless exercise.

None of you will post shoulders. Curious.
>>
Dumbbells catch my shorts and almost pull my booty and tinkywink out ⊙﹏⊙
I like brapbell cause it's a bar
>>
Dumbell shrug too light. Need barbell.
>>
>>77172157
Each of my adjustable dumbells can fit 2 50 lb plates and one smaller plate. How much do you weigh?
>>
AITA for dumbbell shrugging in the squat rack?
>>
For me, it's viscously jerking off while alternating arms.
>>
>>77172165
I shrug 110 lbs per side. Plus the weight of the bar it's considerably heavier.
I can also place the bar at knee height in the rack and start from there. It's not like deadlifting 2 pl8 would exhaust me but lifting the dumbells from the ground gets in the way.

Seems kind of worthless
I know with barbell shrugs the whole point is that you load them with 100 lbs over your deadlift max. What can you get out of shrugging 50 lbs?
>>
>>77171530
These dont do anything for me. Im doing them with proper form and I dont feel anything
>>
>>77172152
shrugs don't do anything for shoulders, dyel retard, they're a trap isolation exercise. way to out yourself

In my opinion, this is the best for shrugs. Hands are away from the body, hanging naturally to the sides. Doesnt load the erectors like a barbell shrug and you can add as much weight as you want.
>>
>>77172175
is that like gooning in slow motion? maybe its good time under tension
>>
>>77172201
So you have no delts or traps. Sad.
>>
>>77171530
btfo'd by upright rows, although this is a decent exercise
>>
>>77172175
How much extra weight do you load?
>>
>>77172219
Plenty of actually useful compound exercises that hit traps
>delts
like I said, not relevant in a discussion about shrugs. You don't lift
>>
>>77172213
best itt

I don’t mind dumbbell shrugs I like them because you don’t have to load up a bar but that said trap bar or barbell power shrugs have always been much better for me, your traps are retardedly stronger on the eccentric portion of a shrug so using a little leg drive/cheat allows you to get a much heavier weighted stretch. Only upper trap exercise I’ve ever done that makes my traps sore. I haven’t experimented with overhead work for traps much like lu raises but the traps are also active any time you are doing any kind of overhead work.

>but the traps are also active any time you are doing any kind of overhead work.
This is true, but traps are such a huge muscle, that overhead pressing or lu raises won't do much for them.
Doing lu raises, lateral raises, ohp, btnohp will requite activation of the traps, but other muscles like triceps or deltoids will give up much earlier than the traps, hence if you want to target them specifically, I would suggest trapbar shrugs with straps, so my grip is not the limiting factor

I do a big shrug motion while I upright row for extra trap gains, then seamlessly transition to shrugs to finish the set
