ok i can expand upon this question. when you do a programme, say 5/3/1. youre meant to do 3x5 today, but in your third set, you can only get 2 reps. what do you do next session? do you try to push yourself regardless, do you drop the weight, how much do you drop the weight? discuss

I don't think it has 3x5 unless you mean some variation.Either way, you need to determine if it was a bad day due to lack of sleep or stress or whatever or you're just too weak for that weight.Most of the times I would suggest lowering your training max by 5-10%, better start light again and work your way up than get injured.
