When it comes to physical fitness, amongst normal people, how large is the gap between men and women? Reason I ask is because a woman said something to me along the lines of "Oh, I can't do a push up or pull up. I am a woman lol." And it actually kind of made me upset because I felt it detracts from women who are moderately strong I guess. I am a guy though so maybe I don't understand the gap. When it comes to normal women, just how not physically fit are they? Not being able to do a push up has always sounded insane to me. Not being able to do a pull up? Okay I guess. I am not sure about the strength requirements on doing pull ups. I have never had trouble doing either. What do you guys think? Is it reasonable that a woman should be able to do a push up, pull up and maybe some other things? Speaking of average people I guess. I go to the gym 3 times a week. I am not sure if that puts me in average males or outside of that scope.
>>77175184right now i could easily kill 99.9% of all foidsif they actually trained with intensity and consistency maybe it would be closer to 95% or 99%

>>77175184>Is it reasonable that a woman should be able to do a push up, pull up and maybe some other things?yes>https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32218059/>We found that males and females adapted to resistance training with similar effect sizes for hypertrophy and lower-body strength, but females had a larger effect for relative upper-body strength.they literally have no excuse to not be fitalas, culturealso based picturewe need to encourage more art like this
>>77175184Pullups are actually pretty hard for dyels both men and women, especially if they are even slightly overweight. And many of them are much more than slightly overweight. The vast majority of women are unable to do a single pullup even if they are a healthy weight.
>>77175184Women don't have fast twitch muscle fibers, so men have around 70% more upper body strength.
>>77175184To be honest, between the average man and woman, probably not much deifference. The average man is a noodle-armed retard.
>>77175184Just look at olympic records. The fact that anyone ever thought women stood a chance against MTF trannies is fucking retarded. The absolute worst male athlete will stomp the best female athlete into the ground any day of the week.
>>77175184As a woman, I hear pretty often that it's harder and takes longer to train to reach the level of a fit man. I see pretty often that stuff like menstrual cycles can impact testosterone levels, but I haven't read the studies so I can't make any conclusive statements on that.Imo, the thing that holds a lot of women back is a desire to not look strong or "bulky". Hell, I've definitely given up strength gains to not get too "big". A lot of girls I know who work out only run, or work their lower body and core, and if they're tracking their calories they eat exclusively maintenance or deficit. So while they're building muscle, it's nowhere near as significant as a medium effort gym going man.TLDR there's some scientific theories about what holds women back from getting to male level strength, but anecdotally it's probably more social factors and choice.
>>77175975> A lot of girls I know who work out only run, or work their lower body and coreIm convinced that the reason in the study posted above for why the women experienced faster growth in this area is purely that; noob gains
>>77175975There are so many basic anatomical differences it’s exhausting to list them all. It’s everything from denser muscle fiber to stronger tendons and stonger bones with slightly different skeletal muscle attachment points that create substantially more leverage to better circulation and higher VO2 max and cardiovascular capacity and quicker response to stimulus it’s literally everything you can think of male bodies have a moderate to substantial advantage in. “It’s societal factors and choice” is laughable cope.
>>77175975>A lot of girls I know who work out only run, or work their lower body and core, and if they're tracking their calories they eat exclusively maintenance or deficit....that is lot of why women average only around 12" biceps. Despite what >>77176250 says, training plays a big enough role that most women can get upper-body strength and size fairly comparable to an untrained man fairly easily.>t. previously got 110lb DYEL GF up to 135lbs with under a year of full-body lifting by convincing her to not just do cardio
>>77176272Of course they can. They can train super hard to match an untrained man. They can work themselves into the top 5% of women to get close to an average trained man. This is why high school boys destroy female Olympic champions. OP was asking how big the gap is, not whether women can make any gains at all, which of course they can make SOME…
>>77176250I mean, I'm not coping about anything. I'm a woman, I strength train. I literally pointed out that there's theories that female testosterone levels fluctuating can impact strength gains, I'm not totally denying the scientific claim that men have an advantage. I'm just pointing out that it's hard to make sweeping statements about normal, average women, which is what OP was talking about, when we're often incentivised to not want to get big.I will say, regardless of sex, everyone should be able to lift a decent amount of weight, run at a passable speed and do at least 10 pushups without much difficulty, or at least be training to reach those goals. "I'm a woman so I can't do pushups" cope is going to hit some of these women so fucking hard in old age.
>>77177071I wrote that reply and I 100% agree everyone should develop a baseline level of strength and conditioning and I also agree that people coping that they can’t get to at least a basic level because they are a girl will hurt them medium and long term. Same for people using any other excuse like being a fatty or manlet or whatever. The health and longevity benefits of this are innumerable.
>>77175912They have LESS fast-twitch fibers, not none.
>>77177080Ah okay, I see we're in basic agreement. For what it's worth, I also think that "I'm a girl so I'm not going to strength train lest I get bulky" is cope, I just think that it's very very common cope, and it's important to accept that. Like, I have to accept that a lot of my friends don't want muscles, so instead I have to explain to them that if they want any mobility going into old or even middle age, they need to be doing at least some training. Meeting people where they're at, you know?
>>77175975If my wife and her friends are anything to go by, women also often use the gym, or yoga class, or whatever else as just an excuse to socialize rather than a place where you go to make a serious effort.
>>77175184I think Boris had a better grasp of composition, but no one has a better understanding of female musculature than Julie. Her color choices are always so dream like as well. Good pic, OP.
>>77177089Totally.Also I feel somewhat compelled to add YWNBAW but then I don’t really know and I’ve probably just spent too much time on this site.
>>77177328Oh yeah, this is especially the case for classes. I've done some yoga and pilates with my friends who "go every week" and it's mostly just them lying there, chatting, and then feeling better about themselves afterwards for "working out" lmao. I think run clubs can be kind of similar, but I run on my own so that's just what I've observed from a distance.
>>77175184Women have something called osteoporosis, which makes their bones weak compared to men. The reason they have it is to make their hips wider and more flexible for childbirth, but it also means they shouldn't train heavy exercises like pushups and pull ups.
>>77177583The odd thing is that I know she and her friends know that this isn't how it should be done, that they should cut back on the fuckarounditis. Yet when you get 3-4 or more women in the same room who know each other they just can't help but lock into an orbit around each other despite knowing better lol. Not that men are entirely immune to this sort of thing, though.
>>77175184If a women have been around any physical work, they want to be strong. Same as with men.Look at the average man, they don’t want nor strive to be strong. I’d say 80% at my work can’t do one push up at the age of 40.
>>77175975>it’s probably more social factors than choiceAbsolutely 100%, unequivocally, indisputably untrue. Men are biologically built to be superior to women in every single measure of physical prowess. Don’t believe me? Here is irrefutable proof:www.boysvswomen.com>olympic gold medalists, women who have trained their entire lives to be the best of the best women in their respective disciplines, would not even meet the requirements to participate in HIGHSCHOOL BOYS track/field and swimming meets. These are children and the women are in their prime/peak with 10-15 more years worth of training and working at getting good at whatever. It has nothing to do with social pressures or whatever. As another anon pointed out, men have:>larger hearts relative to body size>larger lung volume relative to body size>larger volume of blood relative to body size>lower body fat to muscle ratio>higher bone density>different hips/gait which leads to men being able to run much faster>denser musculature with a different ratio of fast/slow twitch fibers more conducive to explosive movementsIt is what it is,
