Are designers taking clues from strippers and drag queen's platform shoes? Do people literally run or work out on these?
>>
>>77176788
is that for manlets?
>>

>drag queen's platform shoes?
how would you know?

You don’t train in them except for a handful of runs to make sure they don’t destroy your feet. They’re made for running fast on race day
>>
>>77176788
I felt that way too until I tried them. Holy shit it's like running on a god damn cloud. So comfy.
>>
>>77176795
>You don’t train in them
I do because "max cushion" shoes have soft foam that instantly fully compresses under my forefoot. They're built for 115 lb people.
>>
>>77176918
I’m talking about carbon plate shoes with the high tech foam, not max cushion shoes. The carbons are not made for training. They will be trashed in two or three weeks if you run regularly in them. The foam starts deteriorating from the moment you run in them
>>
I don't run. I walk. My favorite shoes are Altra lone peaks because they're shaped like a foot, Sounds irrelevant for this post, I know. Stay with me here.

I also have a pair of Nike Structure 25's. They're about half as foamy and cushy as the shoes pictured in this thread. When I wear them I walk 2X as fast with 1/2 the effort. It's like cheating.Almost like the shoes are doing the walking for me.

That being said, op shoes probably do the running for you.
>>
>>77176788
How much height do these add? I'd like to start height frauding more
>>
>>77176975
>op shoes probably do the running for you.
Nah, if you’re fat and/or run like a retard they make you worse and break your ankles. You have to be a strong runner with proper form to get them to “pop” because they need high force put on them to get the plate to snap back. If you’re not running like a 7 minute or 7:30 mile pace or faster they are incredible unstable
>>

I am too and no they don't. Some of them are obviously built not to last but you can glue them back together.
>>

It's a misconception. I've used like 5 pairs of carbon/peba shoes and it's how fast you tilt your foot forward that matters. You can take 18" steps at a normal walking pace and bounce all over if you do it right.
>>
>>77176975
I hate the fact that those shoes have arch support. I Have low arches but my feet are strong af and I don't need that. I can feel the the shoe rubbing up against my foot like lumps on the arches and it fucking hurts. Just make them flat ffs.
>>
i am a manlet who does not height fraud - flat sneakers at the gym, new balance for everyday shoes.
>>
>>77176788
So funny to see people wearing these around casually. Like others said they're race shoes. Once you're running at like a sub 7 minute mile pace or so they kinda fling you forward which makes your feet feel really light. My race shoes take my 6:30 pace to like a 6:25 so that's not nothing.
>>
>>77176788
overdesigned sneakers are bad for you
barefoot is the way to go
>>
>>77176975
Any suggestions for a good affordable daily shoe in India, I've flat feet and it's painful to walk, I'm also obese
>>
>>77176788
Why the fuck do people buy shit in the first place when you'll 9/10 never be good enough to justify this shit.
some cheetah man in africa is running around in a pair of new balances doing front flips over mud huts right now.

>>77177147
small disagreement, I actually do like having another shoe that has some forced redesign to my foot pattern because it's like massaging my feet, ankles, and calves when I wear them.
wear it like once a week just to fuck with my feet on purpose and hit everything in that slight deviation
>>
>>77177396
Saar have you tried not being Indian?

People just have to CONSOOM. Some stupid looking shoes are nothing compared to the lengths cyclists go to, from spend $10,000+ on some piece of carbon fibre shit to blasting EPO just to win an amateur race for the over 40s
>>
>>77177121
What's the point of having a 6:25 pace vs a 6:30 pace if you're not physically any stronger?
>>
>>77176788
Height is the most important physical trait nowadays and fashion obliges.
>>
>>77177673
Winning.
>>
>>77176985
The highest allowed heel for racing is 40mm but there are training/amateur shoes that go above that up to ~50mm
>>

they're nice for running on hard surfaces. I might get some hoka bondi's
>>

Insanely easy to twist or break your ankle in them
>>
So this is how 70s plateau boots get a revival, huh?
>>
>>77178047

>>

A retard who can wear a pair of carbon shoes every day for six months plus before the peba dies.

I guess you shouldn't overthink it.
>>
>>77176788
I had a pair of sketchers for trail and i gave them to a relative because they were too comfortable to feel comfortable. I need to feel the ground. My sketchers had way less platform than your picrel and i didnt like that shit at all. Cheapo 20 bucks running shoe for me at the gym and basic basketball/skater running shoes for everyday use. Fuck your ergonomics, im not gay and i dont care if my feet bleed or get ground to shit.

I like the Brooks Glycerine 22; put around 1,500 miles on a pair with carbon fiber laminated inserts plus aramid inserts plus EPDM foam. IDK how you guys wear shoes out or bust up carbon plates so quickly, maybe try not being plebs and adding on aramid inserts.

I’ve no idea. I bought a pair of Nike Pegasus 41s because they had the smallest stack out of all the clown shoes and other platform shoes being sold as running shoes these days and I couldn’t even walk in them without hip and knee pain. I usually run 4:10/km on a faster casual pace and can Bulgarian split squat 90kg for 10 reps, hip thrust 270kg for 10 reps and calf raise 120kg for 12 reps so my legs have good strength. These shoes are designed for faggy weak manlets
>>
>>77179342
>walks into a store and expects to be able to find anything but the most soccer mom shit possible
There's any kind of shoe you could want if you look into it. There's one like a track spike but with a rubber sole, nike rival waffle.
>>
>>77179212
These at least serve a purpose and are not meant to be worn as a faggy fashion statement.
>>
>>77179362
That wasn’t the case even 3 or so years ago. The shop I went to used to sell actual running shoes not meme clown shit. Hoka really ruined the market for running shoes
>>
>>77176788
Yeah people run in these because they make running more comfortable, less tiring and faster. Run a marathon sometime, you'll see.
>>
>>77179362
Popular with sprinters due to the reduced selection of lowish stack, low drop shoes. Saucony Kinvaras are good if you want a bit more cushion. Havent tried Altras yet - they're on my list if Kinvaras mutate or disappear.
>>
>>77176975
I walk uphill treadmill in vivobarefoot shoes. At first I got foot DOMs (lol right) and now my ankles and feet are stronger it's weird to say. Feels great to walk now. Id recommend taking out the inserts and going full barefoot just never run on hard surfaces with em

>>
You can get running shoes with a spring in them
>>

Of course you would recommend that because your a complete fucking retard. This who thread is losers who need to feel special and tell everyone how smart they are for not buying shoes other people are running. I'm sorry daddy didn't love you enough.
>>
>>77179436
Yeah I ended up ordering some Altras and they’ll arrive soon. I’ll need to give my Nike Pegasus to someone who likes this platform shoe design
>>
You either run for cardio or you run for getting a better time

Sounds like you need to try the altra lone peak
>>
>>77177097
You're probably talking about the nike structure 25's. Yeah, there's too much going on with those.

they're also designed with something akin to planned obsolescence. The outsole wears down way too fast and the upper is somehow knit in a way that catches grass and debris and not let it go.

nta but as a fellow red shoe I also recommend vivos. Im using the Primus as a daily until it gets around -5C outside, not sure what version im using tho.
>>
>>77181339
you clearly do, because my opinion apparently wounded your ego.
>>77181834
just the opposite, my joints are not getting pounded into dust because I actively dampen my landings with my muscle and the entire structure of my legs and feet.
>>
>>77182466
>Im using the Primus as a daily until it gets around -5C outside,
I used minimalist shoes in -20C outside. They were the summer open mesh on top kind.
You just can't stand around and as long as you are running it's fine.
>>
>>77178423
my dad once gifted me some hoka shoes for hiking and I fucking hated them, sure they were comfortable on easy flat trails but not being able to feel the terrain and having the foot raised so much off the ground was awful on steeper/rockier sections. I then bought myself some Topo Athletics with low drop and a low-ish stack and they are so much better for my use case
>>
>>77182603
I’m using them as my daily regular shoes also, so when it gets below -5C I’m having a hard time not swapping to my winter boots. Tried minimalist winter shoes but they don’t work for me.
>>
>>77182466

Ofcourse, I think -20C is much better than -5C sluge.
>>
>>77183303
>Ofcourse, I think -20C is much better than -5C sluge.
oh if it's sludge then yeah it doesn't work.
It can be -20C and ice, but the moment it gets wet or sludgy is where my running stops.

thats a good point, I've never had any ankle roll in minimalist shoes because I'm not running on a platform and my feet adhere to the irregularity of the surface.
