How does one get into yoga that isn't Indian inspired nonsense?
>>77178141Are you fucking retarded?
>>77178146OP is brown subhuman
>>77178150I'm white
>>77178141you got it backwardsthe "yoga" your gf does is just glorified stretchingactual yoga is philosophy + intense calisthenicsyou wont find the latter in the west sorry
>>77178141>i wanna do karate>but don't give me any of that nip shit
>>77178141According to Epstein, yoga is amazing for the vagus nerve, which is the brain of the immune system. Girls who do yoga and get Botox have to get it 3 times as frequently because their body is so much better at flushing the toxin out.So anything that moves the spine is good. Blood and fluid flow in the spine = helps the vagus nerve. No pajeets required
>>77178173How do I find a good yoga routine
>>77178173bro what
>>77178141>>77178157yoga is literally demon worship nonsensewhat you actually want is just stretching
>>77178141yoga is bullshit retard
>>77178141Man Flow Yoga on yt is a good start. The main problem is, however, that nobody explains how to learn an advanced pose. Not even during irl yoga sessions. They usually just tell you to do an easier variation, or worse, they are surprised how stiff you are. What ultimately worked for me is: find your key weaknesses and find one advanced yoga pose you find interesting. I know my shoulder flexibility isn't the best, so I gathered some yoga poses and stretching and mobility stuff for that over the years. I'm really fascinated by the forward fold, so I also put together a routine to get me at least to the point where I can palm the floor. The thing is, most yoga instructors just tell you to do an easier variation, but frankly it won't get you anywhere. So I searched for stretches and strength exercises ro master this pose. After 2-3 months I could thumb the floor, which was unimaginable to me before. I still have a long way to go, but I'm happy. You could say it's not pure yoga, but more of a prehab/mobility routine, but yoga is basically about bodily awareness, so loosely I'd like to think it is.You also need that "enjoying the journey" mindset. You'll learn a lot about how your body works, and you have to embrace the fact that progress is insanely slow compared to strength training or cardio.
>>77178141>>77178243Another thing is that you cannot get into yoga. It's not like strength training where there are the basic compound lifts and you branch from there. While flows have a logic to them you might end up wondering what was the point or what all of this is building up to.The more you learn the less sense it's going to make. Like if you start picking up Sadhguru books or something he's going to get into stuff like don't sleep with your head to the north because the iron in your blood gets to your head and you'll have nightmares. But then gatekeepers are going to bully you because asanas are fabricated for westerners and not real yoga. So it's a fucking mess.In essence it's a way to calm the body, align it, get it ready for sitting in meditation for hours. Additionally it could be a form of meditation if you watch your breath and try to be conscious throughout your session. But if you are not a fan of all the noise, then just follow some videos from Man Flow Yoga or Yoga with Adrienne (I think that's her name). And done: you have gotten into yoga. For me, however, what I've described in the previous post was more beneficial, but each to their own. Good luck and have fun!
>>77178141Just remember that yoga is pseudo nonsense, but stretching is not.Jeets didn't invent stretching, but to their credit a select few of them thousands of years ago did dedicate their lives to reach the pinnacle of human mobility. It's probably the only compliment i'll ever give them.
>>77178150>>77178156Modern day 4chan is just two different polish guys calling each other brown.
>>77178173Yoga is also beneficial for other things, of course, but if it's strictly about Vagus nerve stimulation, a simple breathing routine will do the trick.
>>77178500>Vagus nerve stimulationliterally just fingerr ur butthole
>>77178203>the demon i worship is the real demon
>>77178141Just do pilates and stretching.
What I really want is a mobile app that will generate a yoga routine in the morning so that I have something to do between showering and leaving for work.I know there's YouTube videos but I'd like something randomized so that I don't end up looping after a month, and while I'm pretty sure an app already exists I don't wanna pay a damn subscription fee.
>>77178591A Youtube playlist? That you hit random on?
>>77178595That doesn't work for him, this solution is too simple and obvious.
>>77178141follow along with a hot woman's yoga youtube video, and whenever she says namaste at the end mute the video and scream CHRIST IS KINGIf you are muslim then you can scream ALLAH ACKBAR, but I will only allow that 5 times before you must convertAnd then after following along with videos for a few weeks, you can just remember the best poses and make your own flows/stretches while listening to sevendust
>>77178591print out a bunch of little pieces of paper with your favorite yoga poses, throw them on the ground, pick 10 up, and then do those in a sequence that makes sense
>>77178141asana (what westerners consider yoga) is barely yoga, just a small aspectjust stretch and look for flexibility videos, gymnastics stuff or whateverforget yoga entirely if that is your attitude
>>77178141Just do gymnastic static holds, pretty much the same thing.
>>77178157>actual yoga is philosophy + intense calisthenics>you wont find the latter in the west sorrylol nah#Yoga is simply cobbled together from Swedish, British and German 19th century nationalist gymnastics systems. Indians were butthurt they had none of that so they invented it. Took mostly gymnastics and strongman stunts (Nauli was invented by the Maxalding guys for example), gave it some Hindoo names and bam, yoga.
>>77178179Look at list of posture, do the ones that seem pleasant to you or that you think you would like to do. Hold them until you instinctively feel like it's enough, even if it's just a second, that's alright.
>>77178141>How do I get into indian inspired nonsense without Indian inspired nonsense? Just do stretches
>>77178141Simple, do Tai Chi instead
>>77179040 Any good tai chi chaneels or books?
>>77178141Just do the basic PE stretches.
>>77178141As someone that did yoga for multiple years (and still do once a week) but don't buy into the mystic/spiritual aspect, here's what I recommend or things I observed.- Learn about the different types of yoga; some are more woowoo than others. - Look for "power yoga" or "power flows"; maybe even in a heated room (30C/86F; the heat makes you sweaty but it's good as it also relaxes the muscles). I found those to be good cardio with the right prof (note: you do need a certain level of knowing each pose to make it a cardio workout; but I regularly reached the red zone on my watch for 10 to 30 minutes of the hour long workouts). - Hatha yoga is a good one for beginners, so you can learn the asanas (positions). There is very little instructions apart from move your hands here, bring your left foot in between your legs, etc. Just do your best and after a few classes, you'll get the jist of it. Holding a pose for 30 seconds to a minute can seem boring, but as you get better, you'll know to engage the proper muscles, and it becomes a great isometric workout. - Yin yoga is stretching lying on the floor, meh, unless you are really stiff. - Other types of yoga focus on different aspects of the practice; read up on them, maybe try and decide if you want to give it a go.You MUST try different studios and different teachers. Some are really bad, a LOT are way too much in the spiritual world and a lot don't know how to teach.Unfortunately, the META around yoga is very much "listen to your body and don't strain; maybe your body says "no" today and that's OK" and they give too much leeway for crappy posture. I get the not over-training and listening to your body thing, it makes sense, but almost no one in yoga is going to push you to go further.
Yoga (with a good prof) will get you active flexibility, good isometric poses, it does wonders for your stabilizer muscles, and can be a (relatively) good source of cardio IF you are good enough, with a good enough prof in a heated power flow). It might take you a few months to get there.Yoga can get you toned, but you'll never beat lifting iron if you want pure strength/muscles mass. It can give you some cardio, but not as much as running/swimming/biking.
>>77178141Don't shit in the street and you're doing western influenced Yoga
>>77178141>Indian inspired nonsenseWhat are you afraid of? Hearing foreign-sounding words? Somehow turning smaller and browner? The fact is that however silly it might look or sound, and however questionable it is as a "tradition", yoga can do you a huge amount of good; you can screen out the spiritual side as much as you like, especially as a beginner, but if you keep an open mind you can develop a wondrous suite of skills for calming yourself, improving posture and breath and sleep, basically uplifting every low-level system and background function you have.If you're interested in following along with YT videos (a great way to start), try Charlie Follows's channel, she's a good physical teacher who keeps the mysticism to a minimum. There are other channels, like Breathe & Flow, that will absolutely push you further physically but are also more serious about the spiritual/meditative side, which sounds like it would turn you off.As >>77181396 said, it's absolutely worth trying a few different yoga teachers even if you have some you like; your body and your needs will inevitably make some approaches work much better for you than others. If nothing else, new teachers will offer you new poses, new mindsets, that are worth considering every once in a while.Give it a shot, OP, you might be surprised how much you enjoy the practice.
>>77181570>What are you afraid of? Hearing foreign-sounding words? Somehow turning smaller and browner?Careful Saar, I took a Yoga class then shrank to 2'1" after the inventing of Fitzpatrick type 8 skin and speaking in Bollywood musical tongues.
