Where do carbs go? I've been on a fatty cut for like 7 months and I've lost 90lbs. I am now a normal healthy weight. So far I've been eating a ton of protein to build muscle and some fat so that I dont get sad. Carbs have been super minimal and I only eat them before/during workouts so I don't get the shakes. Is there any benefit to eating carbs otherwise? I'd like to go from deficit to maintenance and I feel like adding carbs is a balanced way to do this but how and why..

You don't need them. I've been high protein/high fat for years and cut out all carbs completely just fine. It's a difficult lifestyle because you need to be selective when you go out to eat but apart from that it's great.

Why do you feel this way if you've gotten results without carbs? You're fat adapted. Your body synthesizes glucose from fat and protein. You don't need carbs at all anymore.

About "the shakes", if my electrolytes are balanced and I have some MCT oil preworkout I never get shakes

Carbs taste awesome so they go in my tummy.
>but I can't lose weight unless I torture myself
CICO. Don't eat processed carbs all the time and you'll be fine.

ate some sweet potato today with my chicken. such a tasty vegetable
in terms of carbs, just stick with vegetable and fruit sources. 80-100g per day does me fine. greek yogurt also has some carbs so i factor that in as well

all that matters here is total calories. if your protein and fat targets are being met then you can add whatever you want really. more protein probably won't do anything special, more fat may keep you full longer through the day and carbs will spike your blood sugar so opt for whole food sources. you'll also start carrying a bit more water weight

Carbs are good if you're doing actual cardio exercise like biking long distances, jogging, etc....
