Today I was doing some experimental shit and actually hit a new goal for myself. I was able to do 225 pounds at 5 reps on the bench press. The only thing different I did today was after my 5 min cardio, I just hopped on the bench and did it. Normally I do 5 minutes of cardio then do like 2-3 sets of light press downs to get my triceps a little warm. Then I do maybe 1 set of push ups. Then start at 1 plate on the bench and do a few reps etc. Is my warm up actually fucking me? I am glad I was finally able to get 5 reps at 225 but I am just curious as to why I was able to do it when I normally fail? The other thing I did was actually take a pre-workout but I usually don't because they make me feel sick. What did I do right... or maybe wrong? I felt much stronger though when I didn't warm up.
>>77187004>can do more reps when you conserve energyRetard. You don't warm up to get stronger, you warm up so you don't hurt yourself and to remind your body what the lifts feel like. You are warming up your triceps too much, though. Just do>empty bar x 10>1pl8 x 5>185 x 3>2pl8 x 1then rest for a minute and do your set. A couple light sets of the lift you're about to do is the best warmup for that lift.
>>77187047I see. Thanks.
I have literally never warmed up before. Do you ever see a lion warm up before springing upon a gazelle?
>>77187073Lions don't sit in chairs for 50 hours a week.
>>77187073I like the way you think man. It's hilarious to imagine a lion doing doing push ups and prancing on his feet for a warm up.
>>77187073No cause I don't live in Africa.
>>77187469Lions don't sit in a chair>no but they sleep a tonSleeping is unironically a better exercise and builds more muscle than sitting in a chair.
>>77187073cats constantly move around, stretch and sleep. They do nothing else.
>>77187004>preworkoutwhen i take mine for chest day, i warm up with 220lbs x 30 reps. My top set at 396 lbs feel like all the tension is received by the pecs. w/o stim, the tension is not felt as deep and pec isolation is not as good.
>>77187004I warm up sometimes, but its just so i dont get hurt moving weights
