Is it retarded to buy 10 kg plates for DBs? I fear it’s going to be to make the db hit the ground earlier and be too large.
Just trying to progress with my chud home routine and I maxed my original baby DB set
>>
What the hell are you trying to achieve? Get a Bar

There are many great dumbbell exercises. Yes OP you will need heavier plates.
>>
>>77189727
I never said he can't get anywhere with them but it's just stupid. And if you actually want some strength, which it sounds like op does, since he's trying to go heavier, good luck
>>
>>77189728

It's hard to work the lower back and hamstrings with dumbbells, I guess you could do RDLs, but other than that he can progress on everything else just fine.
>>
>>77189733
Exactly, not even hard, it's impossible. You say it like it's something like wrist curls. Oh only your lower backs. No worries, skip it kek. It's literally the one thing you must have. Even progressing with over head presses. Have no back strength? Forget it. And even if you can strengthen other body parts without a strong lower back, why bother, you can't really use that strength
>>
>>77189740

I disagree... look at the density of the tendons attaching the front of the pelvis to your abs and then compare it with the lower back, the front side is much thicker. We're not really meant to be deadlifting 600 lbs, we're meant to be lean mean fucking and sprinting and throwing machines. OP can pump up his upper body no problem with dumbbells, add in some lunges and sprints for legs, do whatever he wants for abs, and he'll be looking and feeling great.
>>
>>77189744
Well I asked what he/she is trying to do. Of course you can be fit without high level strength. It's important for me, even on a skeletal level but maybe OP doesn't care about much else other than looking good

Valid. He should get a barbell too, for sure.

I'm glad we could come to an understanding

No large plates will work fine on your dumbells. I have 25 pound plates I put on my home dumbell set for doing bulgarian split squats.

Instead of wasting money and doubling down on garbage, now is the time to upgrade to ironmasters. Or stop coping with a shitty home gym and just go to a real gym and do real exercises.
>>
At the same width the 10kg plates would be like only 3-5cm higher.

My routine so far
>DB Bulgarian split squats
>DB Floor press
>pull ups
>DB OHP seated
>DB row
Am I really cucking my shit up? I know it will be limiting for legs, but being able to do the routine in my tiny apartment is a must for me.
Started mega skelly and getting progressively better. I just maxed loading 50 lbs per db and was wondering if larger plates get inconvenient.
>>

Nah. 10kg plates are fine. 20kg plates might be slightly annoying but probably not that bad either. Add in some flutter kicks or sit ups or something though... and if you really wanna be a man there's this thing called horse stance.
>>
>>77189706
You could add extra weight to your Bulgarian split squats by putting some weight in a back pack and wearing it while using the dumbbells.

Look up Myo Reps. That should let you increase the intensity with the weight you have
