The Sea Wolf by Jack London. Soft academic upperclass writer is rescued at sea by ripped Chad sociopath seal hunter captain, forced to become a real man, forced to confront nature of power and it's role in society.

>>77192840the media is poison and trying to destroy you.movies, songs, games, and even all the original and current religious texts. the glowies run all of it. trust.
>>77192840bernard cornwell's sharpe series. lots of fighting and survivalist themes. good historical background for an era ignored by most modern media slop. >final battle approaches>obtain some french provisions >latest cutting edge technology- canned chicken>sharpe is absolutely blown away by the concept and loves it because it beats eating nothing but hard tack for weeks
>>77192840Devil may cry 3.
>>77192840Ender's Game. Fantastic book. I read the follow up that everyone gushed about, including Orson Scott Card. Apparently he wrote the Speaker first, then wrote Game to build the background of the main character from his magnum opus, but I prefer military strategy to emotional healing as far as themes.

>>77192840Gotta watch the OG
>>77194969NKJV Is my preference because it's readable and fits the original narratives. I also like NIV but some people believe that's been corrupted to appeal to mass audiences. It's the same to me though.

>>77192840Kengan Asura is a good parallel with Baki, and tries to focus on some more of the "realistic" side of fighting. Don't get me wrong, it still has insane bullshit like a dude 50x the muscle fiber density of normal humans, but otherwise its still entertaining and mildly informative. One of the characters, Imai Cosmo, got me into jiu jitsu, and its kinda neat rewatching and being like oh I know what hes doing movement wise
