Does /fit/ stretch? Most of us are uncs now, mobility gets more important as we age
>>77195675I do dynamic stretching everyday.Range of motion is super important to maintain as we age.I can press my fists together behind my back.I can look side to side past 90 degrees with my head/neck.Most can't even do that at 25.Then Wonder why they get injured easily.
Yes. Started in 2022, I think. Then I stopped after I started working my first 9-5(would immediately fall sleep on my couch after getting home and wake up the next day) but I'm trying to get back on track. Currently following this guy's routine:>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_YEUWe6Yn8
>>77195675Dynamic stretching before workout and static after. I started to do longer static stretches recently. How long till I can suck myself off? It's the only thing that matter now.
what's the mobility routine with the best results/time ratio for men?
>>77195688>I can press my fists together behind my back. You mean with one arm going over your shoulder and one from you lower back?
>>77195675I do some dynamic stretching, yes. I think rather than starting off with a full blown routine you should first identify all the spots that really need work and focus on those and then work down the list of new "issues" you discover. For example, my hips were all kinds of fucked so I first did some hip mobility tests and drills and found a few exercises that gave me the most relief. Then I did the same for upper back and shoulders and so on, and slowly integrated new exercises into my routine. Full body routines are probably fine, I just don't think starting off with them is the best ROI.
>>77196070Also wondering this. Lifting seems simpler than stretching, isn’t there a Stronglift for stretching ??
>>77195675Yeah, usually after lifting unless I'm not flexible at the start (rare). Toe touches have always been really hard for me so I've been focusing on those. Cobra pose feels great on my lower back and I'm going to try to do that outside of the gym going forward. I kind of hate stretching though, it feels like I never make any progress.
>>77196100I hope, otherwise it would be fucking easy
I just want a full splits routine I can work on after my workouts, is that too much to ask for?
>>77195675In my experience, stretching isn’t near as effective as stretching with resistance. Doing a Jefferson curl will get your hamstrings more flexible than just stretching the hamstring, for example. Add weight/resistance to your stretching and you will double the benefit. I think for proper adaptation of muscles to longer lengths require that kind of stimulation. Lifting will always require strength to adapt at shortening the muscle. So you need to add that same stimulus to make your muscles adapt to being strength at lengthening as well.
Light cardio followed by static stretches on every rest day
What are some good hip stretches?
>>77196100I'm 48 and tried to do this just now. I can get the distal phalanges of my fingers hooked. Right arm over/left arm under is significantly easier than vice versa.
>>77195675>do full compliment of stretches everyday then run>been on vaca for a week>first two days i was sick>every day since weather has been shit>would normally still run except really pissed off about it so haven't done shit in a week>decide fuck it today>bend over to tie shoes>legs fucking tight as a hell, back tight and soreif you're older above all else if you do one single thing you need to stretch every day
I just use a wooden sword for mobility and warming up before lifting at home
