if I do BJJ do I even need to lift? Mikey Musumeci doesn't lift he just trains BJJ and is jacked as a natty

if I am going to exercise I might as well be learning a new functional skill while I am at it

Made that same mistake and had constant joint ache, was out for weeks after sparring all because I didn’t lift and strengthen those smaller muscles. Something bjgays won’t tell you is most of the lads there are lifting and prolly on some roids, so the cope that technique > strength is just that, a cope.

You don't need to lift to win, until you get to elite levels. You need to lift for injury prevention, this get more important the more you age. Aesthetics wise, you can only expect to get learner from jiujitsu since you burn a lor of calories, but you will put on close to no muscle (Musumeci is like 135lbs)

He doesn't eat clean but i remember him saying he does one meal a day only. Also, he burns a lot of calories training a couple of times a day if not more.

He's very small, but you can get lean and wiry doing jiu jitsu
You won't though, instead you'll just pick up all the joint issues, stiffness and pain that everybody gets when they start BJJ as an adult
