Yes it actually works, no it's not a debate.
The part that is the debate is how much better peptides work over just taking normal collagen sources.

However that isn't what you asked, collagen peptides flat out have been proven in all case studies to show benefits in relation to the problems.

Shows improvement situationally, you would need to know ahead of time glycine is your deficiency. I wouldn't count this as you'd be throwing darts at a wall.

If you are taking peptides for joint pain, they work, drastically work even.
Once again, the question is do they work better than just eating more collagen sources.
Also anyone shilling eat more meat or protein powders fuck off, I got more from uptaking collagen in 3 months than anyone ever did eating more meat.

body can genetically only convert so much collagen amino acids daily, it physically cannot generate more. it's only for bare minimum survival. if you are working out to any level, you've passed bare minimum.

I am doing 1 million steps a month, I did it last month and am doing it again.

I went through the same thing, it was about two months for me though.
I greatly increased total activity daily and was able to sustain while on collagen, but the moment I ran out the damage I was doing was much higher than my body could actually keep up with.
I'd say if you're doing multiple activities daily, collagen is probably the only actual supplement (even literal food sources) that should be seriously considered.

I ain't shilling no products, this is as simple as we don't eat correctly period though.
How the fuck do we go from grueling, back breaking constant work daily on peasant diets to meat being more available than ever and yet everyone, everyone I know has some sort of chronic joint pain.
Low collagen amino acid foods is literally only thing that makes sense, we don't get enough of them.
