Sedentarity enabled higher natality, i.e. more mouths to feed, i.e. more crops and livestock to grow, making them slaves to more farming. Inhabitants of the first cities had worse nutrition than their HG contemporaries, hence the shorter height (and teeth, and musculoskeletal problems). Hunter gatherers considered them silly, which is still true to some extent. It's been some 40k years our brains didn't significantly evolve.

>>77203552The teeth thing is interesting because european premodern agricultural populations like the alpine swiss (if you trust Weston Price’s coverage) had perfectly decent teeth on a diet of coarse rye bread and dairy products. Of course this may be distinct from e.g. a kind of early agriculture built around grain porridge with little variety. But I’m unsure whether agricultural products are strictly going to cause dental issues.
