Ladies/Gentlemen, what app do you use at gym for tracking your workouts?
I've used Strong, but got irritated with it's lack of updates, and not being able to recommend an alternative exercise.
I'm using Hevy now, though the always online, social media-like way of keeping workouts "posted" is grinding on my gears, not to mention limited number of templates and custom exercises (I wanted to add more templates for shoulder strenghtening from recent injury).

My question is, what do you use? I'm aware there are folks going "just use pen and paper" or "Excel is all you need", but I'd rather have it on my phone, and nicely integrated and with rest timer, as I'm notoriously bad at tracking time, and remembering numbers from one training to another, the reps, sets and the like.
>>
Another app thread. What do you track?
>I did shoulders two days ago so I should do them again today
>I ate some cotton candy and it gave me the shits

I looked into the catalog, though didn't check the archive, my apologies.
I'd like to be able to have saved templates to pull up easily on each set (preferrably with info when was the last set done).
I'd like for the app to suggest alternative exercises (gym has only 1 of each machine and a few cables and benches, so some sort of substitution always happens). Maybe "favoriting" exercise or hiding others to not propose machines I do not have access to, like hack squat or t-bar row.
Beside that break timer is a must.

I don't care about calorie or whatever food-related. I'm sure there are better apps for such things, and I feel like an app focused on training will be better than one split between training and food.

My brain
All that really matters is my current pb and if I beat it
>>
>>77202044
I checked it, but the interface feels a bit clunky, can't really see a way to make a set of exercises ahead of time. Changing the values feels more complicated than it needs to be.
>>
>>77202053
work out once? idk, I just use it to record sets & reps
>>
>>77201928
I use le memory app
If you can’t remember you either doing too much exercises or not lifting hard enough
>>
>>77202056
I like to prepare ahead of time, make notes how to train before I go to gym, not waste time going over everything at the gym.
I guess just doing an empty workout would work, but the fact you're scrolling through previous trainings instead of just selecting an exact template, where, like I mentioned, something substitutes are needed, but I'd rather keep the "core" set unchanged and adjust whenever necessary, not remember to check the proper date to load up the template
>>
>>77201928
I just do whatever sounds fun. That mostly winds up being the same thing, except when I think I've got a possibility of injury or something.
>>
>>77202062
I feel you're over complicating things
>get to gym
>warm up
>input what I want to do
>fitnotes has my warmup ready to go
>lift
>????
>profit
what's to stop you from putting in your empty routine on an off day?
>>
>APP

Paper
>>
>>77202071
I feel like you're the one overcomplicating, to be honest.
>Input what I want to do
Versus
>Launch app
>Open the main template you've made weeks ago which is still used
>???
>Profit
That's why I'd like to have templates. My memory isn't the greatest, and I'm sure I'd forget what to do on each day. I get setting one template, I'm fine with that, but that template remains unchanged. With your variant either I'd need to remember the date where the main workout was done fully, or modify it from the last one, which, again, I'd rather keep the original as basic reference.

I run 531 and I have a spreadsheet with two sheets. First is: one line per day with columns for move, current TM, if it's 5s 3s or 1s week, how many reps I hit for the AMRAP and a calculated column for estimated 1RM, then columns for push pull and legs accessories. The 2nd sheet is basically a calculator that tells me the whole cycle's plan and has spots for tracking accessories and AMRAP. After a workout I transfer the workout from the calculator to the log. It's fundamentally pen and paper but easier to edit/glance over.

Um...a small paper notebook and one of those good-ass Pilot G2 pens with the gel ink?

I'm the only person at my gym I see with a notepad, I don't get it. A small notebook is simple and dependable, and you can recycle it when you're done.

I use Hevy too. In the settings you can private your account such that disable seeing anything you don't follow or posting to anyone who doesn't follow you, while requiring approval for follows. I find the social media function is actually pretty useful when I do that, because I don't have the self discipline to work out consistently if entirely self motivated and use it for accountability.
>>
>>77202587
Fake numbers but here ya go, the row at the bottom is cut off but is what the log looks like (it's for copy pasting). The barbell calculator is a fucking monster of a formula.
>>
>have a written down program of 3 exercises
>go to the gym
>begin with exercise one
>increase weight until it feels challenging
>do as many sets and reps as I can
>go to exercise two and do the same, same with three
>go home
>eat
>sleep
>grow
>increase weight
>build muscle
>rinse and repeat for +10years
>browse /fit:
>get disappointed from what I’m reading
>rinse and repeat +10years.

What's funny is your approach is perhaps even more autistic than anyone in this thread, just in your own way. Anyway, what are your 3 movements? How are your arms doing?

Nothing special, it’s more like what I enjoy doing and then putting them into a 3 exercises per day sheet. I’d say my arms are ok. I’m rowing with 120kg.

Liftosaur is the best. Has all the features for free that premium apps have and has a simple custom scripting language that lets you build in any progression scheme you want into a program.

I use Personal Training Coach, it has a pro version but that just gives you the option to add your own exercises, it's loaded wth several routines such as SS, SL, Ivysaur 448, Smolov, Texas Method, etc.

I took all my workout notes from my phone, dropped them into Claude and told it to create an app based on how I track my progress.
It took a couple of hours to make a functional webapp, and after a couple of weeks of tweaking it based on what I found while using it, I now have a workout app perfectly tailored to my exact autistic requirements
