Do you ever find yourself on your final sets benching, you unrack the bar, hold it extended, say "nope, it's not happening" and slowly lowering it back into the rack?

I noticed that I really felt that particular movement on my chest, so I decided to do a few reps of unracking and reracking (it looks just as stupid as it sounds) and I got the best chest pump of my entire life.

I fiddled with the idea and now I'm doing isometric bench press holds until failure for reps (no joint lock ofc) as an accessory and they feel fucking great.

As an added bonus, since you don't lower the bar to your chest, it avoids stress on the shoulder.

Dunno, am I full of bullshit? I'm just going by feel here.

Just drop the weight dummy

huh?

The muscles responsible for pushing the bar away are also responsible for keeping it up, so yes, it works
Probably suboptimal though

The cns stress to returns ratio is shit
Do rack pushes, whatever they're called, put tbe weight at 25% of the rom on safeties and push

Uhh no I don’t change my mind about whether I’m going to lift something unless there is a sudden pain or a fucking earthquake or something.

Go down in weight is what he means

Consider adding dumbbell pullovers to your routine to help balance the muscles that are having trouble with unpacking the bar.

i mean, time under tension is the defining factor for hypertrophy, and isometric holds have the best rate of time under tension per minute of exercise

i can see it working, would need to try it out to give an informed opinion

How long do you think you can hold your typical rep weight /fit/?

dunno boss

Work it in when you feel like it. If it feels good at the end of the workout that’s cool. I may give it a go just for shits at the end of my next bench. And no, barring a tweak I never just say nope and re-rack it

bench press is a shit exercise anyway
