I'm hungry as FUCK

I'm a fan of fasting but it worries me that a lot of the hardcore fasting proponents have that same messed up hairline.
Pic related. Bartoll promotes dry fasting and makes very good points, but his hairline is a heavy asterisk on top of them.

This is why I'll never try fasting over 72 hours.
>>
>>77217632
He's just losing water weight like UFC fighters when he does this, not dropping actual fat. You can tell by looking at his limbs and his face that there's been no notable fat loss here, that kind of water cutting generally just pulls from the core
>>
>>77217652
>10 days of not eating doesn't burn fat
Vantablack nigger
>>
>>77217656
No doubt he burned fat, but nowhere near 25lbs of fat lol

this just isn't worth it, how do you think your performance will be affected when you go to the gym once you're done with this? And there's no way you'll be training during

be patient and accept that real results take time. typical fatty mindset wanting quick fixes and instant results
>>
>>77217662
>if his weight loss isn't 100% fat, then he's just losing water weight.
Fucking retard. How did you post here? Isn't there some IQ threshold you have to exceed to use a computer?
>>
>>77217652
If anything his body would be holding onto water
>>
OP here, ate 8 meatballs and 2 protein bars. I think omad is better than fasting, doesn't fuck you up
>>
>>77217878
bruh he probably only lost ~5 pounds of actual fat, the rest being lean mass including water
>>
>>77217632
>>
>>77217662
lets say he burned 15, thats still crazy for 10 days
>>
>>77218592
Assuming youre sedentary, you'd be burning your BMR, using the average of 2k/day over ten days and 3500 cals/lb of fat that's only 5.7 lbs of fat, which is still extreme for ten days, 15 is very unlikely.
>>
>>77217632
why couldn't you just consume a little bit lower than maintanence weight and work out?
>>
>>77217632
>lost 7 lbs in 24 hours of fasting
the fuck? did he drink a gallon of water before weighing himself and take a 3-day shit immediately after or something?

I used fasting to get down to 176 once but tbf if you're below 22%bf you're just stripping muscle mass since each lb of fat can only release 20-30kcal a day.
IF below 22% to 18% can be useful but I just got back into 16:8 daily and going high-protein keto and that's had the most effect for me, getting down to 13% finally. I do miss doing 20:4 for the leangains HGH boost I will admit, crazy strength and willpower.
>>
>>77217632
I used to be able to fast for 7 days but now I can’t even finish a day before I start feeling dizzy and anxious.
>>
>>77218592
No chance, He maybe burned 7lbs of fat, he lost mostly lean body mass (muscle, water, and glycogen)
>>
>>77218755
I like how you never mention your actual weight. I bet you’re still obese.
>>
>>77217632
ok, you clearly lost a lot of muscle, glycogen and water. together with some fat.
which you could lose more and quicler with a caloric deficit, lifting and zone 2 cardio.
also you are going to bounce back. because fasting is not sustainable and you have no actual plan for what's after. how do i know? because if you had a good dietary plan, you'd just do it instead of ruining your body and mind with crazy shit
>>
>>77218592
thing is, complete hunger is a state of shock which brings out cortisol and every single other catabolic response.
cortisol, released en masse, will immediately start breaking up muscle and glycogen stores to maintain blood glucose levels. it begins some time after your last meal, and will continue and get worse with each hour you don't eat. it happens not only in times of hunger but also in times of system stress, such as trauma, surgery or mental breakdown.
in fact, the longer is your fast, the more likely cortisol to break up muscle for glucose and less likely to break fat for ketones. because ketones don't give glucose.
also, the body will always opt to destroy muscle first because is the far more metabolically active tissue than the adipose one. when you're starved you don't want to have pay dividends to shareholder (your huge quadriceps) when you can't feed your babies (vital organs).
so if i had to think about the most catabolic thing to do, PROLONGED fasting would be nombre uno.

Alternate day faster here. After your initial crazy 10+ pounds you lose in a week it’s about 1 pound per fast day. You can see your scale go up and down every day but if you strictly measure the morning after eating it’s 1 pound for me. I have an lbm of 205 and I walk 15k steps in my fasts though.
>>
>>77217632
fasting is a complete and total waste of time unless you are a literal 600-lb whale. You WILL lose months of muscle, and you WILL feel like shit. If you want to drop weight quick just do a tough cut with a deep deficit but not meme fasting.
>>
>>77218830
This is fake and gay. You are a retard. You can fast for up to 72 hrs with no muscle loss. However if you want to cut and grow muscle a 36 Adf schedule will work best and there are studies that prove it. However to maximize muscle gains obv just go full bloatkord.
>>
>>77218771
No, but here's my timeline from start to when I hit that 176lbs a few years ago
>>
>>77218771
>>77218859
And if you don't believe me, check the /fast/ archives from around January of 2023
>>

the problem with these meme diets is unless you're a total shut in good luck maintaining a diet like this if you are a normal person. The best and more consistent way to lose weight and keep it off long term is a change in your fundamental diet, don't keep any foods strictly 'off limits' simply restrict how much you eat, and maintain a healthy amount of fitness.

Timeline was:
>2017 - Oh shit I'm fucking obese with b cup boobs, time to 20:4 IF skipping breakfast and 60lbs melts off with no effort. Go from keto to carnivore october of that year, hit 210 reliably.
>2018: Basically on carnivore OMAD, stuck around 200 range bc alcohol and breaking IF.
>2019- mid 2022: still stuck but did 6/7 day fasts in 2020, immediately regained weight with poor diet structure relying on OMAD to magically absolve calories, barely building muscle with calisthenics.
>End 2022: Fuck this I'm doing rolling 72s/48s and doing calisthenics HIT to use the HGH boosts, that pic on the right is the end point.
>2023: Get back to lifting after a decade due to DL injury; xmas feasting balooned me right back to 190-195lbs average, job was shit and was drinking roughly 35 drinks a week until 2025.
>2025: I'm sick and fucking tired of being fat, let's get a DEXA in December... fuck me I'm 19.6%bf, I'm immediately quitting alcohol.
>2026: intermittent bulking cut (makes no sense but worked) from mid-dec 25 to mid-mar 2026, now at 176lbs again but with an extra 15lbs of muscle
Long and retarded road, should've gotten back to a BB routine immediately at 200lbs and just did high-protein/high fat maintenance, which is what I'm doing now, and I could've been here half a decade ago.
Pic is from 3 weeks ago and was posted in the last /cbt/, same weight as in photo on the right but with the extra muscle. Can't tell if belly and tit floof is loose skin, working to 172 rn.
>>
>>77218906
looks good, any pictures from the front?
>>
>>77218873
Well I think that is what makes Adf so effective. You just eat one day no restrictions then fast the next. Krista varaday has you eat 500 calories so a burger or chicken salad on fast days then eat on your eat days. I think about ice cream and shit on my fast days but when I eat in the morning I don’t want sugar but some meat and bread or potatoes and I am happy. I eat three meals unit full and only hit like 3k calories unless I snack. It is tough sometimes because fasting gives you fomo but if there is a food I want I just put it in a container for the morning. You could count calories but you are not gonna lose 3.5 pounds a week while building muscle. There is a myth that you need protein constantly but it’s a myth. If you don’t believe me try it for 2 weeks and see if your bench press goes down. Your glycogen will stay high since you only stop eating for 36 hours.
>>
>>77217632
Ever heard of GLP-1 drugs?
>>
>>77218906
so skipping breakfast was your start? if it works, then it works. good stuff. IF is not necessary to lose weight, but you made it work for you
>>
>did my first small fast just to try it out on an off day
>did around 20ish hours
It felt pretty good and easy, never felt hungry. Although I did start get a headache around the 19th hour. It wasn't throbbing but I could feel one coming on slowly. I ate, took a little amount of tylenlo and it went away.

I agree with the sentiment and the core tenet of what you shared, but I'm still going to post this anyways:
>>
>>77218954
I'm damn adamant and tell any obese people that skipping breakfast and walking everyday is the absolute way to go tbf. I wasn't fully on keto until abt july but just between march to august of that year still nominally on SAD I lost roughly 40lbs. I had a fat older lady coworker who asked and I recc'd that and she dropped from 260 to 185 over about 14 months.
>>
>>77217903
water's like 5-7 pounds max
i once lost 27 pounds in 27 days by fasting and walking a ton
>ate like 5 times that whole month
kinda miss doing hardcore fasting
>>
>>77217662
10 days of fasting isn't the typical fatty mindset.
>>
>>77219112
If you were active before the fast and around 25% body fat you mostly lost water, muscle, and poop weight. You maybe lost around 10ish pounds of fat if you were on the thicker side, less if you were leaner to begin with. You’re 70% water and things like muscles (protein), creatine-phosphate, and glycogen are hydrophilic so they keep water in, stop eating and your body will burn through glycogen stores, stop producing creatine-phosphate, and will start catabolizing protein to make glucose (but not enough to restore glycogen stores) which will all result in less water-weight being held even if you’re hydrating well. Plus poop can sit in your colon for 1-5 days depending on your diet. Hell, in a single day I can drop around 6lbs by just taking a laxative and clearing my GI tract, if I was to limit my water intake + laxative I could loose around 10ish lbs in 24 hrs, but very little if any at all would be fat. Fat is a very efficient way to store energy, adds basically 0 weight due to water retention, so unless you’re a fat chud whose body is 50% fat you’re always gonna loose more “lean” lbs over fat lbs in a fast. Also longer term fasting primes your body for rebound weight gain so it’s a pretty bad long-term weight loss strat unless you have the will of a granite statue to not have a bad refeeding phase.

Nobody fasts more than Cole. And Bartoll is in his 50s, and also using PEDs.
I suspect hair loss might be caused by being too lean or consuming a low fat diet. Being too lean is definitely unhealthy.

>Confirmation bias (if I'm using this term correctly)
Confirmation bias is believing what's convenient for you. I like fasting and definitely don't want it to be a cause for balding.
>>
>>77217652
You do realize this same loss (and eventual regaining) of water weight happens all the same with a normal caloric deficit cut as well, right?

Big thing many /fast/ers ignore is each lb of body can only release 20-30kcal of protein a day unfortunately. You can't squeeze more (Yohimbine arguably can but only certain areas- and not enough to /fast/ on) so they'll do these stupid 2-3 days when they're already lean and end up catabolizing muscle.
FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH- the HGH kick kicks in around 32 hours and you don't lose lean mass after that... but from 20-28 hours specifically you're stripping and losing lean mass if your fat cells can't keep up.
T. doing this for years, have grok fact check me based on recent studies

Fasting newbie here. Failed 3 times though (binged on junk food). I'm doing it because I was fired and just want to save the very little money I have (which I wasted already half desu). Any tips?
My stats: 5'9, 150lbs (skinnyfat), lonely, depressed and can't go to the gym anymore
>>
>>77217632
This is bullshit. Overall, he isn't bullshit, but the picture is bullshit. I fasted 24 days and lost 32 or 37 pounds on paper (I don't remember). 5 of that is always just food, so let's say 27 pounds. He is claiming 24 pounds in 10 days - bullshit.

Also, I lost like 6 months of muscle mass.

And shut the fuck up with the hungry shit - fasting is easy as fuck. I also know you guys are all bsing because you don't post obvious things that happen that people don't talk about.

>>77217662
>how do you think your performance will be affected when you go to the gym once you're done with this
I don't have to think, I lost 6-9 months of progress on main lifts after 24 days and I was just skinny fat.

>>77218592
He is also walking literally 4-8 hours a day when he does that. I was liked 3 hours.

Overall fasting is an emergency response if you don't care about muscle mass. I might do 3-5 days here and there, but that's it.

Yeah, it seems one moob went down to loose skin, scared for gyno on the other but I've never had nipple sensitivity tho, going to see what 172 looks like considering one deflated already. It's not fun having nipples hanging two inches lower than they should.
No real loose skin on the belly unless I lean forward.
>Hurrrr skinny fuck
I'm a 6'5" former heavy drinker and /fast/ing retard I'm probably only truly putting on mass now in the past 3 months after quitting alkie.

Did i fuck up with electrolytes during my 3 day fast?
I consumed overall 5g of salt and 3g of potassium with 2liters of water during the days and my heart was absolutely pounding, almost dangerously so.
Of course afterward i read that there is potassium stored in the liver. So only a small pinch of salt should be consumed IF needed.
So what's going on?
>>
>>77220553
I am >>77219982 - not medical advice, I don't know your situation, etc, but I don't need anything other than water for 3 days at all, or 5, or 7 sometimes. I just bought OP fag's snake juice though, since mixing it myself gave me the shits. It does expire.
