Pro stretcher here: lacrosse ball for a few minutes. It will bruise and heal tight the first time. Hit it again in a couple days. After the ball do the pigeon pose and work your way around the pose. Move around your legs and torso. 5 minutes per leg, 2 rounds. No I am not bullshitting you, I am 36 and can do the splits

Hope you're not a fatty cause this wont work well if you are. Lie flat on your back, pull your left leg up, put your right one over the left, then gently roll to the right, letting your left leg go straight as you roll into a prone position, you should now be laying over your right thigh, now just slowly push off while gently leaning to the left letting the resistance settle on your hip, you should feel pretty immediate relief if you got it right. You could also do this leaning against a wall, helps with people who got too much gut for the laying down part. Also for future reference, anyone selling you on stretching/mobility work and encourage you to do things that cause acute pain or leave marks... They're fucking retards, don't listen to them.

Well I would call it a supine spinal twist, but most just call it a hip twist or a lying knee twist. Most don't add on the part where you roll onto the leg, that's my own little addition. It's just like crossing your legs while sitting, but on your back, and you roll onto the leg you had on top(which should be the leg that corresponds to the side of the hip that needs to loosen up)
