When will you finally learn to do pull ups anon
>>
based
if you can't do 10 wide grip, dead hang, bar to chest, no momentum (i.e. kipping) pull ups, you are not fit
>>
>>77228424
If you can't do a set of 3 pull ups with at least +50% body weight, you might as well lay down in a coffin and be done with it all.
>>
>>77228424
Bar to the chest is the real pull up.
>>
>>77228441
Nipples above the bar or you're cheating.
>>
>>77228424
yea, you can just say pull up

You are not wrong
>>
I’ve been doing pull-ups since I was a child. It’s not a difficult movement.
>>
>>77228460
even the average gym goer can't do proper pullups
>>
This is a weak person cope thing
I could do at bare minimum 8 of these as a literal skeleton
They don't make you big and muscular

Best way to tell whether you're fit or not is by looking at your body. I can do 15 pull ups and my body looks like this. Clearly, not very fit.
>>
chins are a better test than pullups because I never learned how to do pullups but I can do chins
>>
>>77228374
I've started but it will take a while cause I'm really fat, maxed out the lat pulldown at my gym so now I'm doing inverted rows to work up to it.
>>

start engaging your back
>>
>>77228510
>start engaging your back
how do I do this? I have a pullup bar like 4ft from me
>>
>>77228511
Nta, spam pull up negatives and scapular pull ups until you get strong enough to do the real thang.
>>
>>77228511
Instead of trying to pull yourself up, try to push your elbows to the ground or into your back pockets
>>

should i do pullups if i'm taking the nolats pill?
>>
>>77228511
>>77228518
first do this, spam negatives
>>77228528
then this, pull your shoulders back and try to "bend" the bar
dont pull with your arms, if you're rounding the upper back as you go up, you're doing it wrong (and you won't progress)
>>
>>77228374
I worked up to doing 5+ reps fairly easily and then I kind of just stopped
>>
why is every manlet obsessed with pullups? never seen anyone over 6ft do them. meanwhile every 5'3 half asian guy at the gym is spamming and staying dyel
>>
>>77228567
I think it's more of a light weight person kind of thing. I see a lot of tall skinny dudes do pull ups too, being a lighter weight makes pullups easier
>>
>>77228511
It happens automatically. You're talking to a dyel. The mere action of retracting your scapula 'engages your back' and without it you wouldn't be able to complete the movement.
Anyways yes chins are better, but both are small potatoes dyel movements.

>>77228567
I did them easily as a lanklet. Smalls who don't lift heavy are obsessed with them because they imagine it's an advantage they have over actually strong guys.
>>
>>77228567
All lanklets are doing them but it's probably because I'm from balkans.
>>
>>77228374
Did some solid pull ups and public and a car beeped at me. My only mire this year
>>
>>77228567
insane projection
see military fitness tests and so on, huge dudes forced to do pushups and pullups
It's crazy how people just assume it's for 5'3 chink gymnasts when calisthenics is just for people who want to use their bodies in more ways than
>drive to a gym --> do your 3 """hard""" sets 2/3 times per week --> go home
post body
>>
>>77228567
t.fatass
>>
>>77228424
this is reasonable
>>77228434
this is bait
>>
>>77230260
>he unironically can't do a set of three pull ups at 150% bw
Time to point and laugh, lads.
>>
>>77228424
If you cant do 5 muscle ups in a row with no break, you probably look like a pig.

>inb4 meme exercise, youre the meme here
>>
>>77228374
I replaced pullups for barbell rows. Eventually it became cardio, id rather have huge lats
>>
>>77230259
I'm not fat. If you think pullups are impressive you're probably small and weak. Try to make more interesting and creative posts.
>>
>>77228567
Shockingly, if you are small and light it is easier to pull up your own bodyweight. It's why all the bouldering champs at my gym are 5 foot tall asians who look like they have never lifted a day in their lift while climbing cliffs the roid monsters struggle on. Second place after the tiny asians are literal teenage kids.
>>
>>77230378
The goat climber is 6'1 tho.

Switching from pull up to chin up finally got me big arms
>>
>>77230829
People on this board have decided pull ups are better because they 'use more back' even though the back does the same thing in both, the only real difference being that chins incorporate the biceps
>>
>>77230999
Your lats have 2 functions with different elbow position. Pullups and chinups get your elbow in those 2 positions exactly. Just do both.
>>
>>77230999
>>77231134
Yeah it might be better for actual strength but for aesthetics, Chin ups win
>>
>>77228424
>dead hang
This kills me, if i cannot keep at least some tension between reps my muscles lose all juice just trying to re-engage
>>
>>77231134
What are the two functions? In both it does the same thing, retract the humerus
>>
>>77231268
N o p e
Adduction and extension are primarily different
>>
>>77231290
They are not extending the arms in one and adducting them in the other. What are you referring to?
The humerus is in almost the exact same position in both movements
>>
>>77231312
Tell me your pull-up and chin-up ROM ends at only your chin over the bar...without telling me
>>
Pull-ups are fine for BW training, if you want to load the movement, chins are more suitable
>>
>>77231448
Loading...is done with extra weight, rookie. Doesn't matter what type of exercise it is
>>
>>77231222
it is hard, but you can try to not lock.out completely, go down and before you disengage, go back again.
>>
>>77228473
this. skeletor manlets think it's impressive when they can do a bunch of pullups with their featherweight bodies. the relative amount of strength required to crank out a bunch of pullups when you aren't a malnourished shrimp is much higher
>>
>>77228424
I can do all of that but fuck dead hanging. Dunno where all of this shit comes from where people think losing tension is a good thing. Also, while I always do bar to chest, I'd be happy if people managed to simply do their pull ups without momentum and with a semi-decent range of motion. Pull up elitism has always been retarded btw

>>77228470
Kinda disagree. When you do them right, they do engage your back properly. It's just that loads of people doing pull ups don't know how to engage the back and non-willingly engage their arms

>>77228528
Finally seeing someone mentioning this here. I always tell people to focus on the elbows pushing down because that engages the back a lot more

>>77228567
I see tall guys doing them all the time at my gym. Still, not enough people do them
>>
I'm fat.

>don't care
