redpill me on behind the head ohp and why does nobody do it anymore

It's not bad. It's inferior to regular overhead press though, if you're gonna do OHP just do it normal. But if you really want to do it then just don't go super heavy, this isn't one you wanna max out on or anything. Sets should be higher than 8 reps. The fearmongering about it wrecking your shoulders only holds true if you're doing sets of 3 or whatever

Seems like a rehab/shoulder health exercise more than anything

4me, it's klokov press

People stopped doing pullovers and lost the mobility to do BTNOHP.
It's a great long range movement, and you can go pretty heavy on them if you got the mobility.
It complements the normal OHP, so no real reason to stick to only one of the two.

Did 100kg for 1 on Sat, all the way down to traps, narrow grip. It works delts more. Anterior delt included.

I prefer btnp because I can rest the bar on traps momentarily, and reset positioning from there. With ohp, if I am training tired, I'm gonna take a massive performance hit because there's no stable position at the bottom and no way to fix positioning. But ohp/btnp are both kinda meh, too reliant on triceps/limited by them once bar clears head, but not enough stimulus to actually grow triceps.

Anyway, bradford presses >>>> btnp/ohp for delts. Do them instead. Front to back and back to front = 1 rep. You don't have to go all the way down behind the neck at first but you'll gain mobility fast.

I always get the distinct impression I'm interacting with retards whenever I'm reading anything on topic on /fit/.

This kills the shoulder

Great exercises. Contrary to dogma are actually great for shoulder health and function provided you have decent mechanics and don't try and egolift overload it like a spaz.
Klokov swears by them and his variation (snatch grip) as a strength and rehabilitation exercise and he's got a freakish overhead press so that's good enough for me.

I replaced my regular ohp with them because they keep my shoulders mobile and I don’t hit my rack with the wider grip and risk waking up my kids. Wide grip ohp doesn’t work for me because it feels tweaky

do them in a smith machine as advertised here, and it's good shit
i would not do them outside of the smith unless you have both strong and mobile shoulders already. it intentionally puts your rotator cuff in a disadvantaged position and it's easy for shit to go wrong if you fail a lift/if a good bar path isn't enforced
