How bad is beer?
Bad
>>77229921If you're a fit alcoholic, beer is the enemy. Clear spirits are your friends.
>>77230059This. Alcohol is bad enough no need to add all those extra carbs and bullshit. When I was in the best shape of my life I drank fairly regularly, but only tequila.
I love beer but unless you're working hard to burn that shit off and drinking strategically it means undoing a lot of progress and being at a higher bf than us ideal. This board has a lot of autists who hate alcohol in general, so you're not really gonna get a balanced view on this. Yeah it's not good for you, but it's great for solidifying social bonds and if you can hold your drink and keep fit as well you have way more aura than someone who doesn't drink at all
>>77229921>>77230050>badIt LITERALLY says>STRONG
>>77229921Are you a retard without a way to preserve calories through a winter? If not, then you don't need beer.
>>77230059nah alcohol is nastier than calories, beer is more psychoactive so you need less
>>77229921Moderation is key. Avoid hangovers. Drink plenty of water. I still have skull crushing natural power.
>>77229921just don't eat fried garbage while drinking and you'll be fine
>>77229921Enjoy 1x a month; never to failure at a 1.5 beer per hour tempo
>>77229921How do I quitAsking for a friend(I am on my 2nd Foster's currently post back and biceps day)
>>77230873People are going to tell you just stop, but they don't understand dropping addictive behaviors is more about identity than anything. AA uses God as a surrogate for this where they realize Im not that guy anymore I dont hurt people around me or myself because I follow Jesus etc. You have to have that conversation with yourself of do I wanna be this guy throwing away my gains, giving myself beer gut, spending money I could get richer with on disposable trash I don't even feel good about. It might have served you in the past but that doesn't mean it needs to/ deserves to stay in your life going forward. Up to you anon best of luck
>>77229921Pretty nasty for recovery. If you have smart watch or something like it that tracks hrv and sleep you can see what it does to biometrics that used to indicate recovery. It's almost like you didn't sleep at all.
>>77230889Thanks. I appreciate the honest answer.Giving up weed was 10x easier than any attempt to quit alcohol has been. It's way too fucking easy to spend a whole day at work, night class, and then gym, and want to do nothing but drink and stare at the screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8-NVRxQTzg
>>77230509Beer is only as "psychoactive" as the alcohol it contains.
>>77229921I only drink socially now, I never make plans to drink, only drink if invited to drink, max 3-4 beers, and usually piss water like coors light or michelob, its impossible to beermaxx and still be fit
Beer is generally detrimental to optimal fitness goals because it impairs muscle recovery, promotes dehydration, and provides "empty calories". While moderate, occasional consumption won't destroy progress, frequent consumption hinders muscle growth (inhibits protein synthesis), disrupts sleep, and lowers testosterone. It is best to avoid alcohol immediately after training
Alcohol literally impedes muscle protein synthesis. It goblins about 20% of your gains. Just think about that. You go to the gym 5 times and bust your ass. Drinking regularly wipes out one entire day of training from those 5.
>>77229921yes.
>>77230509Maybe for your head, but for your body, and that's what this board is about, clear spirits are better. or, more precise, a bit less bad
>>77230894now that i have a few months of smartwatch data, i'm shocked at how directly alcohol/weed correlates to shitty sleep. it's like a 35-50 mid-ass sleep score vs. a 80-90 restorative one. it's actually my main motivation to quit drinking and smoking weed, that's how noticeable it is. i unironically have to "get high on life" because the tradeoff is being permanently tired.
>Alcohol without the heaviness and IMPROVES your sleepThis shit is magic but probably destroys your brain in the long run
