What did people do at the gym before phones existed?
lift
>>77234121You could really ask this question for doing anything in public, riding a train, eating alone, or literally just walking down the street. Developed countries birth rates are down, and I’m sure us just being willing to talk to each other as strangers less plays a small part in that. People over 35 lived a life where they just got to know each other and formed bonds. Now? We need to pretend to check messages on our phone for the 5th time inbetween reps
>>77234121we used to just fuck ya know? there was no women so who was gonna rat us out ya know? we had loving families, no one would use that against us, it was our escape wed go to the gym lift heavy and just have hot gay sex and that was that
>>77234159Ah, to be 13 again
>>77234121exercise and talk to other humans.
I air drum between sets to the music I'm listening to while looking at the floor.
>>77234159Disgusting. Gen Z does not fuck so I can't imagine.
>>77234152>pretend to check messages on our phone for the 5th time inbetween repsAt least phones have given us a better defense mechanism against unwanted social interaction than erasing and rewriting your last rep count in a notebook between sets.
>>77234121Did gyms exist before the invention of the telephone? Jack LaLanne’s gyms might have pre-dated the touch-tone phone, but certainly not the rotary phone
>>77234121Fucking zoomer go back to your tiktok
>>77234121you mean inbetween lifts? i just counted seconds
I remember it, reality was different. I'd sit down in between sets or walk around a bit, get water, maybe take a look at some girls. Gym sessions felt longer and more relaxed. People actually talked to each other, some guys would give the "nod" when you hit a big lift or were sweating hard. People would bullshit about lifting and stuff, wow it was 100x better. Girls even looked at you when you worked out, now they just stare at their phones the whole time with headphones in. Depressing really.
