So your muscles attach to your skeleton, obviously, so each one has multiple points where it attaches. One is the origin and then there’s the insertion.
The way your muscles attach to your skeleton will make some difference in how you end up looking, even at the same stats as somebody else. Because you formed slightly differently as you grew from a few cells and into an adult. This is why people’s chest and calves look so distinctly different even among super /fit/ people. It has to do with where the muscles attaches and that cannot be changed. Having “good insertions” just means that your muscles fit your frame very well and you can look really good and defined at sometimes an ultimately lower mass.

Depends on how fat you were but very unlikely. If your points of muscle attachment were effected, it was because they were forced to shift do to space-management or because your bones were bending from being so fucking fat. And generally that takes quite a bit more time than just 2 years. Unless you were comically obese, there is probably no effect from being fat for that relatively short period.
That doesn’t mean your insertions are perfect and you’re going to look like a model, though. Maybe they are. You really do not need to be worrying about this until you can see your own muscle definition in the mirror, though.

Sorry I should've clarified, the weight was gained quite suddenly over that 2-3 year period (was 230 at 14, 260 at age 16) but then gradually ballooned up to about 330 (5'10") until I was ~21 and since dropped down to 250 again and on the way downwards

That’s pretty fucking fat but I don’t think it’s getting on toward the type of damage that would have rekt your shit beyond repair. A lot of guys lose that kind of weight and look fine. Fucking up the way your muscles attach to bone permanently is the kind of thing that happens to the ludicrously fat fuckers in pictures that euros use to bully us. The people from Walmart who are REAL fuckin’ bigback and you can see their ankles collapse from the weight every step.
Definitely don’t go into this thinking there’s some chance that you’ll find out you’ve fucked yourself forever by doing something dumb in the past. It’s almost certainly not true, can pretty much happen to anybody anytime in one form or another, and is actively detrimental to the drive to keep going and succeed. You got it. Here’s my advice for somebody who is a fatty trying to chisel down, though there is certainly someone who will disagree

Big problem for a lot of fat people trying to shred down is the 1,2 punch of misery you get from changing to a diet you’re not adapted to enjoying AND making a massive lifestyle change with lifting (miserable too, because fat) at the exact same time. I think that’s just too much shock and misery for somebody who doesn’t even fully know what they’re fighting for yet, having never been there before. Ended up giving this advice to a super fat buddy once and he said it helped a lot.
