Why do both powerlifting and strongman competitions avoid the snatch and the clean and jerk? They are some of the fullest movements in strength sports. They use almost the whole body, and they test not only power, but also endurance, agility, coordination, and technique. Pure athleticism. What is the point of calling yourself a strongest man when you can't even do 140kg snatch?
>>77238473Powerlifting is by definition squat benchpress and deadlift. Certain strongman events allow you to clean and jerk the weight.
>>77238491>Powerlifting is by definition squat benchpress and deadliftThey need to add fourth one.>Certain strongman events allow you to clean and jerk the weight.Putting weight on your belly isn't clean and jerk.
>>77238473>strongman>cant do a pull up
I used to compete in Olympic weightlifting. Used to live for that shit, and idealize everything about it. Looking back, I now think it's a stupid endeavor
>>77238473I can't do these because my wrists don't back far enough for the front squat portion
>>77238678power clean and jerk lil homie
>>77238687Please don't talk in that way, thanks
>>77238687My problem isn't with squatting down it's with my wrists not bending far enough back to hold it proper
They lack mobility and coordination and explosiveness. Not to mention that powerlifting and strongman kind of lock you out of Olympic lifts. Unless you are an absolute genetic freak, the size and type of mass you get from pl/strongman will hinder the mobility needed for snatches. Unless you're that Soviet dude who was capable of catching a 250 kilo clean with his wrist.
>>77238888Oh please. There's nothing magical about these lifts. Plenty of powerlifter types do them. And no they are not "too big." Look at some of the biggest weightlifters. The fucking myths these skinny faggots tell themselves...
>>77238876stretch, home skillet
>>77238932Imagine how small and weak this poster is
>>77238923Ur a goof. 99% of people in a gym can't even overhead squat just the bar with a snatch grip without falling in their ass. Ain't no one 5+ years into training wants to regress back to training with just the bar and or a PVC pipe to learn the clean n jerk / snatch. Not to mention that the movement patterns of powerlifting will ruin your thoracic mobility.
>>77238473>>77238589are you fucking stupid
>>77238952>Ur a goof. Didn't read. Fuck you.
>>77238473>why can't you kick the ball into the hoop in basketball>why can't you dribble it with your hand in soccerrope brah
>>77238473>Strongman>Couldn't run 10 miles
>>77238876push your shoulders forward a little more than they will goand grip a little wider so the elbow can bend sideways a littlethen give it some time
>>77238923you dont lift
>>77239222Why would you run if you’re strong? Weak faggots should run from me instead or I’ll rape em
>>77238589>They need to add fourth one.foid gyms are, and it's hip thrust
These lifts require a ton of drilling just to get the basics down and ain't nobody got time for dat
They used to have clean and press, I don't like the jerk. Powerlifting used to be the odd lifts and strongman is its own thing. Supertotal is also a thing, but not that popular anymore. Its s/b/d/snatch/clean and jerk. Before squat stands and bench, you had to clean the bar up before you did anything.
>>77239259You don't lift heavy
>>77239395say it seven times, maybe itll become true
>>77238473Clean and jerk + snatch = explosive posterior chain movement supported and stabilized by the anterior chain. More similar to a weighted jump than an actual concentric lift, nearly fullbodySBD = movements that test and strengthen certain muscles in your body, concentric and eccentric phases
>>77239969You're just a massive time waster with these shit worthless posts. What do you even get out of any of this
>>77239997sez u
>>77238473>Why do both powerlifting and strongman competitions avoid the snatch and the clean and jerk?Because powerlifting is the Olympic weightlifting version for those who don't want to commit. Strongmen aren't even athletes...
>>77238473Completely useless movements to train outside of olympic weightlifting.Lower in power than a vertical jump or a sprint, less muscularly demanding for any given region of the body besides the spinal erectors and quads/adductors/glutes, muscles that already get a beating with any squat or hip hinge.Incredibly overrated for any form of conditioning, lacking in potential for strength development, power, speed, endurance, anything that matters really.Only autistic losers say otherwise.
>>77240330>Lower in power than a vertical jump or a sprintKek 10/10 made me reply
>>77240334I would also laugh if I didn't know what power is.
>>77240339You must have multiple cases of hysterical laughter every day then considering you're weak and small
>>77240341No that would be you.
>>77240380>Meaningless metric on a meaningless graph that admits being meaningless for the most partLol
>>77238473>They are some of the fullest movements in strength sports. No, they're totally overrated and do nothing for strength and hypertrophy that plenty of other movements can't do better.>They use almost the whole bodyAnd end up doing basically nothing to challenge your musculature other than your glutes/quads/adductors and you can't maximally recruit any particular muscle group in the same movement.>they test not only powerWorse than bodyweight jump.>but also enduranceNot even close.>agilityNo.>coordinationYes, only at olympic lifts though.>techniqueYes, only at olympic lifts though. If you want to be good at olympic weghtlifting you have to snatch and clean&jerk, otherwise they're a total waste of time>Pure athleticismIlya struggled to do pullups when he was preparing for his last olympics and was clean and jerking 240kg in training.Enough already with this pathetic cope, you're not better than powerlifters or strongman competitors for dancing around with barbells, your arms are smaller than 15" soaking wet, sit down and shut the fuck up.>>77240402>power is a meaningless metricThis is how I would cope if I was an olycuck ngl.
>>77240419>Muh powahDragonball z tier shit
>>77240310>Strongmen aren't even athletes...of all the sports listed strongman is the only one with a cardio element. They are arguably the only athletes of the three.
>>77238473Weightlifting judging is fiddly. You can and sometimes do see these movements in strongman competitions but strongman does not have rules against continental cleans, double dipping, press outs, etc. It's a different skillset to snap the weight cleanly into place vs grinding it out by any means. The latter is much more enjoyable to watch and perform. Why don't weightlifting competitions include log press?
>>77238473WSM had a barbell press event this year that they could have clean and jerked if they wanted to. Most of the time the implements for such events use an axle or non-notating weights which makes an Olympic-style clean impossible.
>>77240438Oly used to include strict OHP
It’s not that they ignore them, it’s just not what the competition is about. Powerlifting will forever be the big 3 strength lifts with the technique for each being pretty straightforward. Strongman is about strength too, both static and dynamic. Plus some athleticism tests like throw and moving big objects over a set distance. Oly lifting is about highly technical dynamic strength and power. Not only moving the bar but moving yourself around it at the same time.
>>77240419I still have more respect for a weightlifter over a powershitter or a strongman
>>77240463"strict" kek
>>77240419somebody got cucked by an oly lifter LOL
>>77240517And you assume anyone cares why
>>77241239you cared enough to respond
>>77238473snatch and clean and jerk are too technical for powerlifters and strongmen are too inflexible for it
>>77238473the lifts are too technical to be interesting if you want to competemany athletes do them for better performancepowerlifters do the sbd because it's less complex and easier to get good at, strongmen lift random objects because it makes for a better show and sells more tickets
>>77241442Parallel catches are allowed, depth is not a penalizing metric as long as you're not catching it at like 80 degree with flexed elbow which i barely anyone can do with +200kg even at the highest level so it's an extremely rare occurenceIt's just that it would be no different than teaching them olympic throwing unironically, they would far well but will be stuck at continental levels depending on where the person is from if we assume a top 5% powerlifter
