3 years ago I had acute inflammation in my stomach lining and small intestine and had to undergo multiple gastro/colon-scopies
Today I am much better, but still not the same person I was before.

Current plan consists of:
>high fiber *soluble and insoluble*, ~30g/day
>kombucha 3x a week
>sauerkraut every lunch
>yogurt and kefir every day
>loads of water
all the ferments are homemade and are pretty tasty...

I want to move past this pitfall and live a normal life again.
Anyone dealt with something similar or had gut issues?
>>
I had but sauerkraut and pickles (brined) fixed it fast. Perhaps try to eat less processed foods, as they contain preservatives, which of course destroy your gut biome.
You could also have the opposite problem - bad bacteria. Try antibiotics, maybe iodine pills.
>>
I used to eat a lot of crap food, drank a lot at the weekends and definitely did not get enough fibre and nutrients etc... my shits were very consistently quite solid, generally one big bowel movement in the morning right after my coffee.
Late last year I came down with a stomach virus that had me shitting my brains out for a full week.
Since then I've been shitting 3-4 times daily.
I've totally changed my diet, eating a lot of fruit and veg, good fibre, cut out drinking, cut out junk food... Still shitting my brains out 3-4 times every day.
I feel pretty fantastic otherwise and I'm hitting prs every week but shitting so much.
I've introduced kefir hoping it will settle my guts but so far no luck. Gonna add sauerkraut next. Have I just got a bad gut from the virus or did that fucking virus give me IBS or what?

Yogurt with all that probiotics shit in it and kombucha. I had a stomach virus for a couple weeks recently and it destroyed me and the yogurt and kombucha put me back to how I was. No more intense stomach pain, nothing. My farts are still some of the worst smelling shit I've ever encountered though, dunno how long that one's gonna take to get right side up lol. gl

start taking l.reuteri probiotics
Try the biogaia https://www.biogaia.com/pages/meet-l-reuteri
You can even make yogurts if you're into that kind of stuff. This is life changing if you have gut issues

everything you mentioned is good but you should alternate it,

what reuteri does is that it colonizes your gut, starts killing all the shitty bacteria and massively helps a ton with digestion which will lower inflammation (and perhaps your stomach lineage, long term). First few days/week might be harsh if your gut is full of shit bacteria, but it's a pretty fun unique reaction.
There is a lot of other associations. I honestly haven't been sick since i started taking this two years ago, it's not a long timeframe but i went from catching 2-3 virus every year, to not pretty much not get sick. And last time i got sick, it took me one day to recover and was extremely mild (while my gf was in bed for 5 days).

How does this work long term though? Let's say I'm trying to repopulate my gut with the good stuff, so I take a bottles worth over a month and it clears out the bad stuff and populates the good stuff... Does it self propagate after that? Do I have to constantly take these as a supplement? Surely, provided I avoid antibitiocs and trash food, eat healthy and exercises, once I've got my l reuteri back in abundance it'll take care of itself?

it stays in your body for 30 days (if you do a proper 30 day regime beforehand, which could be 1 every day or 1 every other day, results showed propagation is very similar in alternate days), decaying each day obviously, if not supplemented it has no chance against every other strain being reinforced daily by our eating habits. But you have flushed your shitty bacteria, it should also help medium-term if you do it only a couple times and don't eat like shit after.

you can take it daily but the strain would monopolize your gut, while biogaia says to take it daily, i would advise against it. You need to find a regime that you're comfortable with along other solutions (namely kefir, fiber in your diet, etc.)

what i have been doing usually is take 1 every other day for 30 days. Then do nothing for 30 days. if i feel discomfort or its winter, i'll restart for another month (always alternate, my regime is actually 3 pills in the first 3 days, then 1 every other for 27 days). But you can also do yogurt and eat at your discretion.

This is the strain i take btw (L. reuteri DSM 17938, it's the one biogaia sells), other strains might do jack shit.
There is a ton of studies about it https://examine.com/supplements/lactobacillus-reuteri/?show_conditions=true

one funny study in rats showed their balls grew larger kek

I've actually those exact ones as it happens. 30 pills worth so I'll do one every other day. Drinking kefir everyday too. I'll see how it goes over the next 60 days. If it firms up my shits and brings them down to twice daily I'll be happy.
After that I'll check out making some yogurt for future use, maybe in a few months if I notice my gut start to turn again.

first few days you might feel some constipation or softer shits, but it quickly gets better.
it's hard to describe my first week, you know something is up in your gut (could be bacterial die-off), there's tons of bloating.

Oh i forgot to add, do not take it with hot beverage and try not to drink anything hot 30 minutes before it (or you're just killing it). Do not take with with huge meals, do it with lighter ones and do not take it with empty stomach, i used to do it and felt like i was getting sick (next day i would feel better because the bacteria isn't harmful but the body doesn't know)

>You can even make yogurts if you're into that kind of stuff
I'd warn against putting too much faith in the author, he was found out to be a hack that doesn't even understand how bacteria work and multiply

There's a guy called Mathew Cress that's sending his recipe in for actual testing so we might get to see some results soon
>>
>>77240580
Which one?
I mean he can do yogurt with any probiotic strain, or so I think. I honestly have no idea, i never made it, i just buy the chewable tables and chew them, but it's more expensive. And theoretically, yogurts should have a lot more than CFU's.
>>

His recipe encourages using Inulin
Reuteri specifically cannot process Inulin (check BacDive)
In reality the Inulin just feeds whatever bacteria happens to be in the air/on the utensils which is what multiplies and forms the yogurt
