The local gym near me is geared towards geriatrics, and is the only gym in our small town other than the fitness clubs for a couple residential communities that aren't accessible to everyone. I'm making a home gym and already have the first set of stuff I need for it, but I'm wondering what else I should get to open up my variety of workouts.My current setup:>16" box>Dumbbells increments of 10 from 10-70lbs>Rubber floor mats lining ~1/3 of the room where equipment is>Pull up/dip rack off amazon>20 and 40lb weighted vests>Wife's Peloton bike>Yoga mat (which I no longer feel the need for with the floor mats)>Adjustable (flat to incline) bench>rolls of cuttable bandsI'm worried about the weight and cost of a squat rack since my home has a subfloor and not a poured foundation, plus the weight of the squat rack + plates adds up really quick. Right now I've been doing goblet squats, single leg step ups, step up jumps, and things like bss for legs. Not including light weight adduction/abduction exercises with bands, ankle mobility work, etc. I'm just not sure what to get next, but I know my setup doesn't feel complete. I also do a lot of weighted dips and pull ups, and for dips I'm running out of ways to add weight. I already dip with over 100lbs added, but if I get a dip belt and plates I feel like I may as well try to figure out a squat rack situation. That or use kettlebells.
Why spend 1000's on dumbbells when you could get an adjustable one. Also get more space for that. Weighted vests also suck and work poorly since all of them put weight on your shoulders and don't get varied out. IMO ideal minimal:* Good quality squat rack* Spotter for squat rack* Barbell* adjustable dumbbells* plates* rubber mats* adjustable bencheverything is a plus / not necessary.
