>Bench press>Push-ups>Dumbell bench press>DipsIt's the same shit. Same effect.Same for other exercises (pull-ups and curls). You just have to pick whatever is convenient or available for you.
>>77242427Dips are vertical push, everything else here is horizontal
>>77244240>Everything here is horizontal
>>77244243Holding weight this way has nothing to do with pecs, retard.
no. you are dyelBench above body weightPush up body weight calisthenics Dumb bell, isolates each armDips not really a cheat exercise primarily depending on how you do them
>>77242427Everything an "influencer" says is by definition disinformation
>>77242427Pushups and Dips use the serratus and long head of the triceps. The other two don't. Hope this helps.
>>77242427They aren't the same shit, but I do agree with your last sentence
>>77244366I thought you needed to have arms behind your head to recruit the long head of the triceps
>>77244415No. They bring the elbow down, similar to the lats but not exactly the same. Imagine you're a chimp hoisting himself up onto a branch. It's mostly long head, lats, and a little bit of pecs.
>>77242427>Bench pressGood compound where it fails depends on your leverages. Downside fixed hand width limits chest recruitment so if you skew towards tricep failure do db bench instead. >Push-upsMostly fails on triceps hard to weight without messing with the back. Same issue as bench with handwidth unless you want to get exotic with it and do it on rings. >Dumbell bench pressProbably the best overall but is limited by the wrists and can't follow loading progressions as well because of that bottleneck. >DipsGood but also finicky with shoulder anatomy. Lot of people get no issue doing these with v grips but can't do them with parallels under their armpits or the opposite. You can trial and error out which form is cleanest but it's usually not worth it if you have a bench and weights already.
>>77244473Ok, I should learn more about biomechanics.I had misinterpreted stuff I read on reddit, like following post"If you have trouble feeling the long head , do movements where you are also contracting the triceps from the shoulder joint. Long head is the only head that connects to the shoulder blade and contributes to bringing your arms behind you. A simple example is tricep rope pull extension while slightly moving your elbow joint forward to back."I guess all heads work together whatever the exercise anyway
>>77242427>smoking weed makes you gayI have never had sex with a man in my life.
>>77242427Le Tigre > Ferrari > Magnum > Blue Steel
>>77244593You can, it's just not required. In any case, laying down on a bench to do a press won't use them. The forearms move "up" relative to the torso. Decline bench press might use them.I don't know what movement in nature would require us to raise our elbows above our head and extend the forearm upwards. Maybe overhand throwing a spear? That's mostly deltoids anyway.
>>77244631"Up" was the wrong word to use.In other words, if viewed from the right hand side, a movement that brings the forearms clockwise will use them. Bringing them counterclockwise, above your head, will stretch them. That's true. Then doing overhead tricep extensions will bring the forearms in a clockwise movement pattern, which is why the long head is used. Looking at a musculature diagram will make it obvious as to why.
>>77244631>>77244638Thanks for the explanation.
