Is this thing a real workout or is it just another way to do cardio?
Is it even beneficial if you're not rowing boats regularly?
>>
That looks like it takes up a lot of room

About as much as a treadmill
Also it's in the gym, I don't plan on buying one

It's their stuff that take up space

Women in my gym are taking it up more and more
It used to be the dyel "sports" guys who also do 0.5pl8 cleans for 4 reps then walk out but now it's back to back females rowing
Be honest Op are you a woman if yes who's the grifter who told you all to start doing it

It’s alright, moves backwards when under heavy load if you don’t have a rubber flooring so make sure you put something behind you.

It's just cardio. If it's hypertrophic to any muscle it's type 1 fibers they don't really get much bigger they mainly gain endurance. So yeah it's pretty useless to non rowers. It's a lot more effort for the calories burned so I think most people would absolutely hate it if they tried burned 300-400 on it a day instead of just going for a jog, stair climber, bike, jumprope, swimming, whatever.

it does (length-wise), but it's also easy to stand up when you're not using it

It's a great piece of equipment. Not strictly necessary but a fine addition.

Is there any point to it vs say a treadmill or a bike trainer?
I like the idea of moving my whole body in an exercise but I can't imagine the low load doing anything useful

I have a bike and a treadmill too. The rower hits like a truck and you can feel that yo get a whole lot more out of it than any other cardio equipment for less time spent on it. It’s the reason it’s still left in the gym while the other stuff is in the garage doing nothing.
