I'm doing Stronglifts 5x5 but would like to add some accesory lifts on a 3xWeek basis. Today, I did the StrongLifts A:
>Squat
>BP
>Row
And added, just because
>Pummeling curls 3x10
>Lateral raises 3x10
>Calf raises 3x10
>Lying leg raises 5x30
The other goes
>Squat
>Overhead Press
>Deadlift
>>
terrible idea. I'm guessing you aren't very far into the program? just do it as written (actually do 3x5) until you hit 1/2/3/4 then change programs if you want.

>terrible idea
Why? Shouldn't I be training tendons and doing complementary exercises? I'm not looking for hypertrophy just to get stronger

ppl like u tend to do stuff like the "reddit ppl" (just google that) cause they wanna do more and they like it

PULL

Deadlifts 1x5+/Barbell rows 4x5, 1x5+ (alternate, so if you did deadlifts on Monday, you would do rows on Thursday, and so on)

3x8-12 Pulldowns OR Pullups OR chinups

3x8-12 seated cable rows OR chest supported rows

5x15-20 face pulls

4x8-12 hammer curls

4x8-12 dumbbell curls

PUSH

4x5, 1x5+ bench press/4x5, 1x5+ overhead press (alternate in the same fashion as the rows and deadlifts)

3x8-12 overhead press/3x8-12 bench press (do the opposite movement: if you bench pressed first, overhead press here)

3x8-12 incline dumbbell press

3x8-12 triceps pushdowns SS 3x15-20 lateral raises

3x8-12 overhead triceps extensions SS 3x15-20 lateral raises

LEGS

2x5, 1x5+ squat

3x8-12 Romanian Deadlift

3x8-12 leg press

3x8-12 leg curls

5x8-12 calf raises

Not who said just do the program but - just do the program. If you are looking to get stronger then do Stronglifts until you get to 1/2/3/4, keep on going the pick accessories based on what your week spots are. If you are a man under 60 in decent health without long lasting serious injuries or illness you can get to 1/2/3/4 in two years at the very most and that’s if you are weak as fuck with no muscle to begin with.

Doing SS/SL is genuinely one of the hardest things you can do in the world once they weight starts getting heavy. If you add even more to it you will start failing your lifts.
>>
>>77247817
That's typically when you switch routines because you're an "intermediate" lifter at that point
Common mistake with SS at least, never really followed SL

Understood.
To keep the thread going a bit more, I don't have a rack and need to power clean the weight before doing OHP or Squat (or doing seated zercher) and have some back pain. For now, the weights are not troublesome but I can see it happening soon lol

You can add whatever accesories you want at whatever volume you want so long as its not quads/hams/glutes/front delts/pecs/tris. If it's those, you have to be careful to ensure they recover or you will stall progression. You want to keep increasing weight on squats/bench/deads as long as you can. Btw once you can't increase weigh every couple workouts consistently, you can do whatever, in fact sticking to those specifically if you're not feeling them will be counterproductive. I got more squat gains out of lunges/gms than out of squats once my novice lp ran out.

So the stuff you added is fine and you can do it with more volume. That said, SL is retarded and do SS instead - SL retard is weak and dumb and tells you to move on to SS after SL stops working. Also stop doing bb rows, your back/core aren't strong enough to let you move weight on that stuff.

Ok retard, just do zercher squat instead of back squat then. they're similar enough. deadlift bar off the floor, squat down putting the bar on thighs, get your elbows under the bar, squat x5.

>>77246985
this would work too but it'd be better to finish ss first since op is evidently very weak and will get more mileage out of basic lp.

I'll try that, I was thinking on using the bench to keep the weight at some height
