This gotta be bullshit, right?

It's almost like walking isn't exercise and fat fuckers should start putting some actual effort
>>
>burn 250 calories from walking
>eat 250 calories less from food

There is a 500 calorie deficit. More than enough to lose a noticeable amount of weight.
>>
>>77250054
it somehow helps with any small back issue you might have but yes, its not good cardio. 10 min of jump rope is significantly better
>>
>>77250054
Yeah it's true. Cardio is pretty shit for losing weight.
They did a study and found that to lose a "significant" amount of fat, you had to run something like an hour a day, five days a week, for a month.
A "significant amount of fat" being I think 5 lbs.
>>
>>77250054
You lose like 700-1000 calories in an hour of punching the bag. It's more fun.
>>
>>77250063
this is the easy way. hard cardio burns a lot more so its not like "muh cardio is useless because I cant walk off 5 pounds in a week!"
>>
>>77250062
Shut up

>>77250054
walking requires almost no energy
humans are literally designed to walk all day every day on very little food and water for their whole life.

Luckily I like running then huh. I decompress and work through work / life issues in my head sometimes, it brings a real clarity of thought. Other times you can just go into a total zen state and not think about anything at all. Both is good.

But yeah, I didn't start controlling my weight effectively until I just stopped eating at all during the work day. That combined with running made it easy as fuck, and weighing myself every day. Black coffee for the win.

NTA but you're such a retard. Spending brain time doing nothing is one of the best things you can do. People filling every available second with a screen is killing our spontaneous thinking and problem solving. Your brain needs time to decompress like that.
Running is still pretty shit though

This isn't hard. I went volunteering back in my youth and the only change to my lifestyle was that I stopped using olive oil and started running 1h per day 5 days per week. I got sunken cheeks in no time.

It's just us modern people being unaccustomed to pyhiscal exercise. Back in the 18th-19th century, a "cure" for obesity was running 3 times a day, 2-3 hours each, together with an almost pure protein diet. And keep in mind that back then, the theorized minimum protein intake was about twice of what we are told today. So the diet was mostly fried meat with some greens and a bit of toasted bread. Hope you can read German.

10k steps is absolute pussy distance.
A Roman legionary would walk 20 miles a day with 80 lbs armor on him and some backpacks. And then at the end of the day they would stop and build a fucking palisade, sleep inside the walls, and then repeat that again and again the next days, up until they were at your city, which would promptly become a Roman city.
So, just a reminder, if you can't do even a measly 30 miles in a day once, with your 0 load on you, you're a pathetic weakling with soft baby legs who would have gotten killed off and looted to not slow down the legions march.
And 30 miles burns 5000 kcal - most of which is actually fat and not just carbs like from other exercises.

Walking is a bullshit "exercise". Works for fatties, but we're mostly talking about <15% since lean is law.
If you want to burn calories, then do HIIT swimming and (mountain bike) cycling.
Also running, if you don't value your joints that is.
>>
reminder that if you're a sedentary lazy fat degenerate your mitochondria can't even burn fat properly
a fit guy burns twice the amount of fat doing the same walk or a run as you

You're all brainlets. Walking is very accessible to anyone, doesn't require any particular preparation, generates very little fatigue and can even be pleasant. Keeping your NEAT relatively high by walking is WAY more bearable and more optimal than trying to keep a hardcore training routine.

>>77250803
Walking is a NON-EXERCISE activity that can burn calories quite efficiently w/o accumulating fatigue and stress. What's more sustainable, HIIT swimming and offroad cycling or just walking every day?

I swear these threads are full of people really overestimating their actual fitness and who probably look like shit if they don't know long walks are GOAT for cutting.

Cardio is conditioning for your heart and lungs. You can't burn calories or... you know, LIVE, without those. The better they work, the better and longer you live - for the most part.

Losing weight is simply a matter of taking in less energy than you use.
>>
>>77251406
>Losing weight is simply a matter of taking in less energy than you use.
inb4 the spergs
>>
Walking is good, BUT to really make progress with your cardio, you need to push yourself to the limit: running, jumping rope, or high-intensity cycling, etc... (which also burns more calories).
But staying active and walking 10k steps a day is a good daily habit to cultivate.
>>
>>77251406
You can't work on cardio without... you know, burning calories. The more you work, the more you burn - for the most part.

Losing weight is simply a byproduct of working cardio.
>>
10k steps is really not that hard to achieve, so long you dont have a drivers licence that is. Then youre forced to walk everywhere.
>>
>>77251372
>walking is WAY more bearable and more optimal than trying to keep a hardcore training routine
>doing something for hours every day instead of doing a 10 minute cardio session every other day is more manageable
i dont understand you walking fags. walking is just something you do on a daily basis no matter what but people are still fat as fuck. you need more than walking
>>
>>77251418
This. Walking is for health and active recovery. You have to do something more stressful to actually grow your cardio capacity.

>to really make progress with your cardio, you need to push yourself to the limit:
True
>(which also burns more calories)
Misleading half truth, yes high intensity burns more calories per minute you do, but you'll quickly gas out, and your total calories burned will be much lower than if you just did low intensity.

If the goal is burning calories then you want low intensity, the burn rate is lower to be sure, but you can do far more and you end up burning far more calories.

A good balance is 20~30 minutes of high intensity Zone 4 3~5 times a week to push your limits and about ~2 hours of low intensity Zone 2 everyday.
>>
>>77251452
>but you'll quickly gas out
>implying you do just 1 set and quit
>implying your cardio doesnt improve over time to do more on the next session
you dyels are actually retarded on this subject matter of fitness in general. whats next? you cant get stronger because you can only lift so much after 1 try?
>>
>>77251458
Zones are auto-progressive, you don't need to do longer sessions because as your fitness improves what used to get you to Zone 4 will only reach Zone 3 until you increase intensity to reach Zone 4 again.
>>
>>77251466
>you don't need to do longer sessions
>provides an explanation of how longer sessions is better
my 10 minute jump rope session every other day is significantly better than your 4 hour walking session on a daily basis. you walk fags will never have better cardio than someone who actually works smarter than you
>>
>>77250062
Walking is, it’s just low impact. Actually if there was only one exercise you were forced to pick for the rest of your life at the exclusion of all others, your pick should be walking
>>
>>77250676
You are not roman infantry retard
>>
>>77251474
if walking is an exercise for you, you were never fit to begin with. this is like thinking algebra is difficult while trying to claim you smart as fuck
>>
>>77251476
you are not a gestating rhondesian owl retard
>>
>>77251471
I'll be generous and say your 10-minute jump rope session is pushing your heart rate into Zone 4. 10-minutes is pretty light for a Zone 4 workout you're doing every other day, I'd recommend increasing that to about 20~30 minutes. If I'm being entirely charitable you burned maybe 150~200 calories. Meanwhile 2 hours of Zone 2 is on the order of 800~1000 calories.

Ideal training ratio is 80(low intensity)/20(high intensity), you do the high intensity to increase your capacity and push your limits, low intensity will improve your health and burn far more calories.

Increase your jump rope to about 20~30 minutes, get a heart rate monitor to make sure you're actually hitting Zone 4 with your jump rope, and add an hour or two of Zone 2 (fast walking, swimming, biking, ect)
>>
>>77251488
>my theoretical understanding is better than actual reality
you dont even walk, do you? a lot of people at my office job walks as their form of exercise but absolutely die when it comes to any sort of sport. they can't keep up with playing tennis, basketball, stair climbing events, or even a running event compared to someone who actually trains cardio.
no one who actually lives in reality of any sport will ever take your dyel advice seriously
>>
>>77250070
>an hour a day, five days a week, for a month.
This is not that much
>>
>>77251496
it is when you're an actual adult who has shit to do all day. if you're just some kid going to school, you basically have unlimited time. lets stick with realistic constraints of the every day person who pays bills
>>
>>77251495
You'll never improve if you're afraid of doing the work anon. Pain is weakness leaving the body, remember that next time you're going to gas out after only doing 10 minutes of jump rope. You're weak, and you're going to stay weak if don't push yourself and do the work.

20~30 minutes of Z4 3~5 times a week
2~3 hours of Z2 everyday
>>
>>77251499
Im an adult with a job and spend and hour and a half lifting and the other half doing cardio, 5 times a week. 1 hour of running is fucking nothing, the hardest part is finding somewhere nice to run

10k steps is 700 to 800 calories, around 500 of those from fat tissue, and takes around 90 minutes. Equals 2 bowls of rice (700 grams, cooked). So 3 hours would be 4 full bowls, 1600 calories. Normal pace
