Size, but especially extreme strength, coordination, and power can outpace technical prowess. If you had some Neanderthal fight a black belt in whatever martial art, the Neanderthal would probably overpower them. Now, if you gave that same black belt the same physique as the Neanderthal, it’d be a different story.

>Long:

Is there really any point in learning a technique-intensive combat sport or martial art like wrestling, BJJ, or judo when I could just become incredibly strong and powerful?

I believe that if you took even a man who’s 5'10" and 230 lbs., and he was able to deadlift over 750 lbs. and squat in the low 600s, while also incorporating exercises like sandbag pickups and carries, overhead throws, Olympic lifts, various plyometrics, and conditioning work to become an all-around elite athlete, then a martial art wouldn’t be too necessary in the event that he had to fight someone.

Now, this isn’t an argument against combining technique with the above. That would obviously cover all the bases, and such a person would likely dominate anyone relative to their strength. However, if you took a 175 lb. guy who’s a black belt in jiu-jitsu and put him against some D1 offensive lineman, I’d have a pretty good feeling the latter would just toss the guy around. In fact, I’ve seen this happen multiple times at the dojo I go to.

In conclusion, should I just get super fuggin yoked and a become a totally massive sick cunt instead of doing adult karate?

Martins is one of the strongest men in the world, and has a very wide and varied athletic background, including a decade or more of adolescent wrestling.
He is not untrained.

Why the dichotomy, when you acknowledge that doing both is obviously better?
>>

Yes, I think you're more or less right.
For a more stark comparison, imagine a huge guy versus a very small woman. No matter how skilled she is, the idea of her winning seems rather grim.

Efficiency with time and energy.

you should make decisions about what you choose to do with your free time not based on fantasies of winning hand-to-hand fights you'll never actually participate in. if you want to be efficient with your time and energy in that regard, you can spare yourself 2000 hours and purchase a gun and a concealed carry permit

You'll never have to lift a 300 pound piece of metal off the ground. Invest in a handtruck, anon.

Bla bla bla
Post an actual black belt and not some faggot from a MCDojo.
>>
>>77250625
the difference is i don't work out so i can lift a 300 pound piece of metal off the ground. do you see?
>>

Actually, post a real martial art and not a tug of war with gis. I'm not reading your post btw.

/fit/ is now at the level of the always losing Chinese martial arts philosophy. No wonder you lose everything now.

I can beat them both at once.
What's my secret?
I lift your mom on my dick, daily.

awesome
and when you shoot and kill someone you can spend the next 20,000 hours (and 20,000 dollars) dealing with your assailants family suing you
hope to god you did everything by the book, or else your ass is in the dumphouse for 6 months or until your MRD

nobody is basing this off fantasy, a question was asked regarding if op should spend his days doing memeshit or something useful like getting stronger
>>

This board is literally just 9 people. Theoretically, 60% of this boards traffic is in this thread.

>nobody is basing this off fantasy
it's pretty clear that OP's dilemma is based on which training paradigm will prove more useful to him in hand-to-hand combat, i mean it's literally the whole fuckin post bro. what i am saying is OP has never been in a fight, and probably will never be in a fight, so obsessively training in preparation for this hypothetical fight can't exactly be squared with "Efficiency with time and energy," doubly so when all that preparation can be instantly rendered useless in the case where the other person is packing.

>he still thinks black belts are something else than an engagement tool for retards to keep paying 'new belt' tests and shit

they really have little to do with skill, anon

That guy is literally a judo black belt, he isn't just a random powerlifter trying judo for shits and giggles.
He is such a judo weeb he even speaks japanese fluently.

I have natural power and technique. Never lost a fight.
