Advice for new runners:- Build up speed and mileage SLOOOOOWLY (start with 15 minutes, increase mileage at most 10% per week);- It will feel like you're going slow, you are; don't worry about setting good times for a couple of months;- If you start to feel pain anywhere, stop and rest;- Don't try to copy what pros are doing. Do what feels natural; and- Once you can comfortably roon 6 miles/10km, start thinking about a goal in terms of race distance and time, and look for a training plan for that goal (see below for suggested plans).>Couch to 5k/Bridge to 10k Guideshttps://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/running-and-aerobic-exercises/get-running-with-couch-to-5k/https://i.imgur.com/ef98R.png(embed)https://i.imgur.com/qNJIy.png(embed)>I want to run a fast 5k, 10k, half-marathon, or marathonhttps://www.runningfastr.com/https://www.halhigdon.com/cock and ball torturehttps://sites.google.com/view/sub-threshold/home>I want to stretchhttps://www.runnersworld.com/uk/training/beginners/a32172701/how-to-stretch-post-run/>Performance calculatorshttps://runbundle.com/tools/age-grading-calculatorhttps://vdoto2.com/calculator/https://runrepeat.com/how-do-you-masure-up-the-runners-percentile-calculatorhttps://lactrace.com/norwegian-singlesOld: >>77234859

Is the Runna app any good? I hear a lot of people talking about it but with how much it's shilled I'm extremely skeptical. I started running in Novemeber and would like to eventually do a half but my 5k (~28m) and 10k (~58m) times are absolute shit. I've also done a few 10 mile runs and feel like I could do a half but I don't wanna be at the back of the pack but I have literally no idea how to train except run more, run faster.
>>77252537i just did my first run this morning, felt great. but my heart rate was hitting 160 constantly so i switched to walking every two minutes just to push it down to 120-130. i'm 190cm and my cardio is generally shit (besides walking everywhere) - resting heartrate is easily 70-80. i wasn't winded or anything, could hold a conversation/say a sentence. is this expected for first time runners with shitty cardio?
>>77252609Just do garmin coach, comes free with the watch
>>77252728Not that I'm experienced or anything, but were you perhaps going too fast?
>>77252750definitely not, i was going at what i'd consider below average speed, just above a fast walk.
>>77252609maybe it's better than nothing if you're clueless about running and too lazy to do any research on your own. but in that case you deserve a basic AI slop training plan.
>>77252728>first run and already a hr slaveif you felt fine then what are you worried about. you just ruined a perfectly good run by walking for no reasonjust rungo easy most of the timesometimes go harder
>- Build up speed and mileage SLOOOOOWLY (start with 15 minutes, increase mileage at most 10% per week);you should start with whatever feels moderately hard and try to run a bit further every week, don't be a pussy>- It will feel like you're going slow, you are; don't worry about setting good times for a couple of months;what kind of retarded advice is this? stay slow and stagnant for months? you're supposed to be exercising and adapting, run at your natural pace you fucking faggot>- If you start to feel pain anywhere, stop and rest;wrong. tolerating some degree of pain will make you adapt. don't be a fucking pussy
>>77252846The constant slow runs make you faster you ignorant buffoon. This for for completely beginners who not only need to get their legs used to the impact of regular running but more importantly need to build a base fitness before they start doing any fancy training. The most basic training concept in distance running. The first thing they would teach you if there were a class on it.
Some young punk tried to beat me in a parkrun. Took an almighty sprint to finally drop him. Back in your box kiddo.
>wife changed our sunday flight >so we could have a nice day/evening together in NYC before her work conference starts>were gonna fly out at 7PM, now flying out at 10AM >now i have to skip a local 10k race>was gonna run it with the 28-year-old bunny with the neck tattoo (again)FUCK
>>77253103She doesnt like you running with the bun bun
>>77253103most cringe poster on /fit/ by far. Give us an update once you manage to do something with those run club hoes. Till then please stop shitting up the threads with your nonsense
has anyone here actually hooked up at a run club?
>>77253178yes, one of the guys who’s friends with all of the club founders uses it as a pool for new tail>>77253156>>77253156wife just joked about her being my mistress, and she might start to worry if we run another race togetherso this may not be going in a good direction

Another example why you should date and marry a girl who already enjoys sports, running, and the like so she doesn't become some fat heifer or cow that won't let you lick her ass and you end up crying online to a bunch of obese brown virgins.
>>77253345i agree but what's the connection between being into sports and letting her ass be licked?
>>77253103>neck tattoo
>out running the other day in 80F+ weather with no wind>see woman walking way ahead on opposite direction of route>on my way back home>see her again>run past her>temp instantly drops for a second and goes back to normal (kinda like when you open the fridge adn get blasted with that wave of cold)What the fuck was that? I've passed people before and never experience such a significant drop and she was out as long as I was so it's not like she came out of a cold house or something.
>>77253634Queef cloud
>>77253345my wife is 115lbs and i can eat her ass any time i want but have you ever had sex with the SAME woman for eleven years?
>>77253656She'll let you eat it directly after she's had a shit or after a long day outside? I can see why you married her
Long roon day. Kinda windy which is annoying. Calf started to tighten last couple of miles. But I get to relax the rest of the day and have a vaca this week.
>>77253697>2:48:36.13 hours of ass eating
>>77253658yes, i have eaten her sweaty ass after a hard 10k run in hot weatheri… don’t want to eat her ass after she’s taken a shit? that’s not appealing to me
>>77253697hell yea brother
>>77253711You are a very lucky man
i only eat the shit off an ass of prime young twenty-eight year old girls
>>77252728You are just now starting. Don't worry about le zone shit.
>>77253626yeah dude. i just paced her to her first full marathon. she BQ’d.
Did a faster one againSaw no buns, but two herons in the river. Also saw the geese and goslings... there were only two goslings today. I guess the others... didn't make it. I also think I saw a mink in the river too.
>nice sunny day>walk around in my apartment bare foot and in a tshirt all day>take a run>get out of the shower>Iam cold af, freezing>put on socks and a sweateranyone else like this?
>>77253855>I guess the others... didn't make it>I also think I saw a mink in the river toogosling bros... I don't feel so good
>>77253855Doing an 8 minute (plus changing time) length workout at that intensity daily would keep you insanely fit and cost almost no time to perform. Interesting. Also this is data porn.
>>77253973There was also a bald eagle circling overhead at one point. Each season, each pair of geese usually has 5-7 goslings. So far this year I've seen 3 families of geese. So I guess its a numbers game for them>>77254012I'm trying to build mileage without getting injured (again). Also, I have all the time in the world right now since I have no job
>>77252537schmidt's pits
>>77252826>>77253813thanks, i'll keep that in mind next time. i felt good and only switched to walking because of the heart rate and it did feel kinda counterintuitive, but i'm only ever concerned about it because i'm paranoid about my heart health probably for no reason
>>77253863I'm just cold all the time now, I think I'm just running out of fat to keep me warm.
>>77252728Go to a doctor and get a stress test, to make sure you dont have a heart condition. I have atrial fibrillation and my heart rate was around 120-130 when I was walking at 2.5 mph on the treadmill, at the gym. Im on medication now, and my heartrate is more controlled. Not trying to scare you, but just giving my experience with a high heart rate.
Cycling today instead of running. Only two runs this week. Calf and achilles are sore.
>>77253855Should add a cal column and remove the long distance ones for now.
>one week after marathon>try to do some basic leg exercises without much weight>quad spazzes out and is now hurtingFuck.

1,5 year into running. Not feeling much progress, especially I am still deficient in the aerobic base.Last year most km a month was 136 km, usually around 120km, spiked it up to 168 km in Jan and Feb, 212km in March, 200km in April. Now I feel tired, cannot recover, my legs feel heavy even at any pace. How the fuck can people run every day and recover?
>>77255235most people don't run every day. and those that do, even the pros, have some very very easy runs in there.
>>77255286The "easy" runs of the pros are ridiculous though.Like easily below 4min/km, and their HR is still low all the time.
>>77255294many examples of pros running close to 5:00/km on easy days. I think usually the Kenyans start that slow then maybe finish around 4:00 pace
>>77255300Anyways, my engine is weak, even after 1,5 years, my HR no matter how slow will go into what is supposed to be zone 3.
