Track Edition?

Advice for new runners:
- Build up speed and mileage SLOOOOOWLY (start with 15 minutes, increase mileage at most 10% per week);
- It will feel like you're going slow, you are; don't worry about setting good times for a couple of months;
- If you start to feel pain anywhere, stop and rest;
- Don't try to copy what pros are doing. Do what feels natural; and
- Once you can comfortably roon 6 miles/10km, start thinking about a goal in terms of race distance and time, and look for a training plan for that goal (see below for suggested plans).

How do I find roooning skeleton women in my area?
>>
>>77253822
I am. My pet theory is its metabolic adaptation for running so its more efficient. I notice my breath rate goes way low when I run long distances, and that corresponds exactly to when I start getting cold. Weird because my heart usually beats fast for a long time after ending a long run (exercise induced tachycardia or something like that)

>marathon tomorrow
>training was kinda on track for a 3:30

What do you need your phone for?
You're better off getting a GPS watch for tracking and a tiny mp3 player for music if you need that. Any decent running shorts should have secure pockets for keys.
Fwiw, I tried running with those arm bands and they're just a massive uncomfortable pain in the ass. They don't stay in same position and often slide up/down your arm or rotate.
>>
>>77255530
lol no arms

I'll try that, thanks for the advice.

Finally managed to unfuck my legs from several injuries, so I'm back to regular running after months of doing like two light jogs a month. Today I got my first sub-25 min 5k in ages, legs felt great and lungs felt like I was dying. Kinda nice desu.
>>
>>77255509
Google “running fanny pack”

Only simps and cucks run with only a watch, the only decent running app is “asics run app” and they don’t have a watch version
>>
>>77255530
Arm bands are definitely bottom tier.

But I couldn’t imagine using a watch that also doesn’t have an mp3 player built in

Are you from a poor nation?
>>
>>77255992
I refuse to use wireless earbuds/headphones, so I have a separate mp3 player.

Obsession with products and accessories is peak reddit.
>>
>>77255998
What is trough reddit?
>>
>>77256018
Learning your hobby as a kid at a club/during lessons that your parents signed you up for, never discussing it online and mogging the fuck out of "adult improvers" despite not taking the hobby all that seriously anymore. Having a better intuitive understand of the finer details than an entire thread of redditors discussing them while referencing a bunch of professional guides, youtube videos etc.
You get the idea.

Its crazy how many people can push themselves through injury and its no big deal, and here I am stuck with plantar fasciitis for over a year. I need to be executed.

Dad here (one newborn and one almost 3yo), are running prams a meme? I don't get to run as often as I would like, but being able to take my toddler (or both in 6 months) might make it easier.
They look like they would be really hard to run with, both because of the extra weight and not being able to pump your arms.
>>
>>77254362
you’re a fucking faggot
kill yourself
>>
>>77255509
get a running belt
salomon has the best elasticated one with lots of capacity that is like adding a whole layer of various pockets at the top of your shorts
flipbelt for something with smaller capacity that’s adjustable

Honestly, just go running and figure out what stuff works for you over time.

You can try some of the things here if you want. Or you can skip them all. Or do something different.

All roads lead to Rome, just have to try things out and iteratively improve.

I don't do anything on that image, but I'm sure there are better runners than me that so them religiously. I'm sure there's also worse runners that do them too
>>
just went trail running for the first time im convinced the people who do this are legitimately crazy

They are not hard, women use them. You get used to running with alternating arms.

Anyone know what I can do about shin splints?
I thought if I took a week off, then they might go away, but it didn't work
>>
>>77256737
I used to run a lot and got terrible splints. The advice I got was keep running every second day and suffer through it and to run, not jog, even if it means stopping more. I did and after a month or so they just kind of went away. The advice was basically do it more and do it harder to toughen up. It sucked but ended up being worth it. Hope this helps and have a good rest of your day.

I bought some track spikes. Can't remember the last time I did a track race but it was at least 10 years ago. That was an 800m and I broke 2 min easily. I think I'm fitter now but I have no speed anymore so I'll have to move up in distance.
>>
>>77255554
get a watch that plays music. you will regret it if you don't
>>
>>77256287
I own a thule chariot and yes obviously it's harder to run while pushing it but it's doable. I only do short runs with it ( 3km )
>>
>>77256287
Saw a women using one the other day. Look pretty easy. Definitely something I would do if I had kids.
>>
>>77256269
I had problems with that too. Started doing all my daily walking in no-drop, wide toe-box shoes. After a few months my feet and calves got noticeably stronger and wider, and I haven't had any plantar fasciitis again. I still wear normal running shoes, just do stuff like errands and walking the dog in flat shoes. Might be worth considering.
