> prayer counts as meditation
Prayer is the opposite of meditation. During prayer, activity of your default mode network ceases, there's no inner monologue or any thought process, and no emotions - your prefrontal cortex strengthens by practice of sustained concentration and inhibition of reactions to internal stimuli. During prayer, your salience networks are emotionally centered around psychotic mental representation of imaginary jewish entity, which is actually toxic for the brain, since it mimics actual schizophrenia.

It just so happens that i researched both neurobiology and religion. Here's an interesting example of christcuck activity:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6how8Sp4jg
You can clearly see that it involves complete disinhibition of verbal centers of the brain and schizophrenia-like interpretation of it as a divine sign.

Abrahamic religions are the only religions in the west. Anon i replied to originally wouldn't make a distinction between prayer and meditation unless he was a christian or something.

I do breathing exercises in the morning and I do NSDR as an alternative to power naps, which is pretty similar to meditation.

Always notice how meditation is halo'd by nature aesthetic etc. you can't meditate if you're in an ugly street etc. you need money or luck to have nice nature habitat
>>
>>77255538
>you need money or luck
just do it in your bedroom lmao. whats next? you can't go for a walk because its always pictures of people hiking out in nature?

Not always, I watched this movie a while ago, they walk around in ugly streets and look out of place
Meditating on something is literally a step of understanding something. When you read you have to meditate on what you read in order to chew through it in your mind. But in the case of buddhists, meditating on hindu metaphysics turns them into depressive recluses and the best possible course of action they can think to take is to do nothing their whole lives to incur no good boy point demerits and then be obliterated by being absorbed into nirvana as fast as possible. That's why they always look so pensive and sad all the time and their films like this one are depressing and empty

>whats next? you can't go for a walk
Unironically yeah if I live in a city (thankfully I NEET in a suburb) I would never go on a walk, I would get a manual rowing machine or an exercise bike or something. If you have no nature to walk in there's no point in walking except to get somewhere
>>
>>77255569
>actually I cant go for a walk!
u just sound like a massive pussy, holy fuck.
>>
>>77255569
why not an automatic rowing machine?
>>
>>77255580
Well I can because I live in a suburb and there's beautiful weather, and no pitbulls or ghouls or goblins about
If I lived in a shithole though walking around aimlessly is just stupid and does nothing

>>77255584
Manual sounds cooler
>>
>>77254909
Literally the opposite. The goal of meditation is to not think at all.

Everyday, it's part of my monkmode routine
>>
>>77255881
it is if you are solely just focused on one thing. Thats the whole point of meditation, focusing on one thing to calm your mind of whatever bullshit is running thru it
>>
>>77254909
Sitting still.
>>
>>77254854
I used to. Tll you what. Thanks to this thread I will pick it up again. Thanks, man.
>>77254918
It is a form of meditaton. Hindu and Buddhist practices are better and more varied but Abrahamic forms of meditation like prayers are also good.
>>
>>77254909
>What is meditating?
My interpretation is the practice and repetition of a thought or feeling. There are many ways to meditate, thinking about somethig deeply, like stting still while focusing on your breathing or an ache until it doesn't hurt anymore. Cursing under your breath everyday on your way to work is also a form of meditation as you are training your brain to release the grumpy chemichals under the same circumstances (time, place, etc.) rutinely.
>>
>>77254930
Yes. Meditation is the practice na repetition of a thought or a feeling, practicing a trick or doing any action over and over again under similar circumstances will make it easier for your brain to create neural pathways for said skill. The more you goon the easier it is to keep doing it. When you say no am addiction and follow through, the easier it is to say no again. If you do in anyway afeter saying no, the easier it is for your brain to disregard your authority.
>>
>>77255453
>backpain
Focus on the pain instead of the breathing and it will stop hurting.
>>
>>77255918
Would you like to share said monk routine, please?
>>
>>77254854
gooning is meditation if you hum
>>
>>77255944
If "ouch my legs hurt why do I do this to myself" is focusing on one thing, then I am a shaolin monk

The general routine itself is really simple:
>wake up
>make the bed
>meditate
>make breakfast
>go to work
>workout
>shower
>make dinner
>sweep the floors
>meditate
>go to bed
Obviously specific day to day things change the specifics like dinner plans with friends or family gatherings or doing BJJ, but that's the overall routine. Other autistic things I do are:
>cook only with 1 large pan, an instapot, and the oven my apartment came with
>vegetarian on weekdays, meat on weekends
>exercise with gymnastics rings and parallettes
>limit wardrobe to black, navy, and white (excluding work uniform)
>only enough furniture to entertain 3 guests max
>organize and clean daily before bed
>>
>>77254854
Meditation is a meme. Like literally no one successful actually meditates on a regular basis. I'm sure people take a walk or lift or shower or sit in a sauna and just quietly contemplate things, but every mention of successful people meditating is just shit people say they do once or twice and never do again or just say they do for a pr move
>>
>>77256410
sounds like a skill issue. back to doom scrolling
>>
>>77254854
No, but I medicate (with copious drugs and alcohol)
>>
>>77256307
Thanks. Seems chill.
>>
No but I should return to box breathing
>>
>>77254854
I do not meditate frequently enough and thank you for reminding me.
>>
>>77254854
If your mind tortures you 24/7 meditation has long lasting effects once u get deep into it u basically get high as fuck and your thoughts stop hurting you and you can see and interact with reality without the ever oppressive storyline running in your head constantly. Or flashes of like hundreds of thoughts or your neurosis etc etc. not everyone can do it but it's life changing.
>>
>>77256410
Why do you look to people for instruction or validation?

I feel like a lot of successful people meditate, but they get into it after they've already become successful.
>>
>>77254854
Yes, and it's one of the best habits I've built.
I just got some mala beads and I'm really liking that addition.

>>77255453
If you can't just sit without back pain, something needs to be changed. In the meantime, there's no reason you can't just lay down for it. All that matters is the ability to breathe well.

>>77255217
I've heard of NSDR through Huberman, but didn't get the specifics. Where did you learn the method? I've had great benefits from midday naps and meditation, so I'd be interested in trying it.

>>77254918
It has a lot of the same effects, even though it's a different type of practice. I'd say it counts.
