Been noticing that most people (including me) breathe pretty badly by default — shallow chest breathing, mouth breathing during workouts, stress breathing, etc.Wanted to ask /fit your knowledge and recommendations about:diaphragmatic breathingCO2 tolerance trainingbreathing for recovery between sets/cardiomeditation breathingsleep/stress reductionposture-related breathing issueswhat actually improved your performance/recoverywhat helped anxiety or stresswhether nose breathing during cardio is legitif breathing mechanics changed lifting enduranceany science-backed resources/books/studies worth reading?
>>77255472Get an RMT device.>https://thebreather.com/That's the brand I use. They make versions for athletes & singers that have even higher intensities. These things are great for learning diaphragmatic breathing, under a certain amount of strain your body has no choice but to do it. Don't buy into the masks or the RMTs with the janky scuba regulators, don't train your breathing while working out, you're not gonna get extra benefit, you're just hurting your workout.>CO2 tolerance/breath hold trainingOne of the biggest T boosts/mind hacks that people sleep on.>how does it boost T?!>how do hack mind?indirectly, it conditions your cortisol response and inures you to stress, less stress, more T. Aside from forcing your pulse to slow, it also forces blood to the brain too, proven to help with mental clarity too.>protipDo RMT/Breath hold training at the same time. Been doing that with my breather. Exhale for as long as you can, wait until it's intolerable to inhale through the RMT, hold your breath at the other end until it's intolerable, then exhale through RMT.>any science-backed resources/books/studies worth reading? The breather site has a page that's nothing but studies on RMT. Beyond that look shit up yourself mate. The mammalian dive reflex behind breath hold training has been studied to death, it's just as much of a physiological law as Wolff's
>>77255472Using my lower back instead of my feeble abs to breath down through my balls has been a complete game-changer.
>>77255472>>77255576anyone who has gotten into all this breathing bullshit realizes how little difference it makes and drops it. you're not going to break a PR just because you "know" how to breathe. if its going to do anything, its going to just help with keeping you at baseline. just like how proper nutrition just maintains your health and doesnt turn you into some world class athlete
>>77255591>doesnt turn you into some world class athleteNo one claimed it does faggot, but you can't dismiss it's benefits either. You're the same type of dipshit that says "abs are made in the kitchen," like, no shit, but its a fucking muscle too and if you don't train it, no, you're not gonna get a 6 pack just by dieting alone. Your respiratory system is controlled by muscles that follow the same fucking rules as every other muscle in your body. No RMT isn't a fucking silver bullet, nothing is, thanks for your braindead hyperbolic opinion. There are MANY athletes that without sponsorship have backed RMT, I'll take their advice over some rando negative nelly shitbag from here. So unless you're going to say something of substance & back it up, why dont you fuck off and go be a queer elsewhere?
>>77255576Bought one from Amazon cheaper than on their site. Hoping it helps with snoring. Thanks anon.
good thread. In my experience, posture contributes as well - I myself have suboptimal posture which also leads to chronic susceptibility to paresthesia. Opening the chest/standing tall can at least help prompt good diaphragmatic breathing.
>>77255587...what?
>>77255601>but you can't dismiss it's benefits eitherlike what? this isnt new. I practiced it too but it does nothing. Also you have to be conscious with this "new" way of breathing instead of just breathing like normal. go be a dork on your own time
>>77255472chest breathing for push exercises, mainly for chest. stomach breathing for back/lat exercises. don't forget to thank me for your future gains.
Read The Oxygen Advantage, it's all about CO2 tolerance and breath holds (plus some self-help segments that you can skip, they're easy to spot). It didn't drastically improve my life, as I was already mouth taping and doing breath holds, but it made me better at it.
>>77255776>it does nothingHow weird, cause shit tons of studies on RMT from multiple different sources with interests in multiple demographics ranging from frail old people to pro athletes says you're either a lying sack of shit, a wimp who didn't try hard enough, or just a straight up faggot ass troll. No one really listens to hyperbolic queers like you, you get that right? You might get a chuckle out of some other braindead homo but all the people who give a shit don't look at statements like yours and think "yes, this gentlemen has obviously done his research, he must have to reach such an absolute conclusion that flies in the face of literally every study you can find online right now."
I had to practice breathing during my OHP
>>77255601>but you can't dismiss it's benefits eitherwhich are all placeboyou already know how to fucking breatheyou mouth breathe during times of exertion because your body needs more oxygen than it can get through the noseit's not fucking rocket science
>>77255757dick breathing

>>77256317>it does nothingYou said a bunch of nothing in that long ass post. I guess you should go back to breathing to calm down a bit
>>77256317Calm down hyperventilating retard.
>>77256317lmao, just from this post alone i know breathing does nothing
