If these make me want to kill myself, am I doing something wrong?
>>

Yea, use a rolling pad and not a bench. Change the position of your front foot closer or further from your body for what you want to target. And try a barbell
>>

No, these are just the most intense exercise in my opinion. It helps to rest a second between reps (take a full breath in and out at the top) and to do them more frequently. If you do them twice a week they're not nearly as bad.

No. Leg exercises are for women, so us as hetero men will not enjoy doing them. Any "man" that actually enjoys leg exercise wants fugged in the butt
>>

if you are doing these properly they should make you want to kill yourself

I love these. For more fun use a higher bench and place your front foot on top of a yoga block or something so you can get extra depth and really stretch your hip flexors.

For me it's ATG split squats. They just feel really good.

I don't know what's the hate towards this thing. Sure it sucks till you get used to it, but over a few weeks it helped me run pain free, plus my ankles and knees don't make weird clicking sounds anymore.

yes, lunges
stupid meme exercise. just squat
also don't do stuff that makes you want to kill yourself, in general
>>

Start from the bottom of the rep. Put your backleg in a comfortable place then square your front leg so your femur is parallel to the ground. Then start repping. This will be more consistent and have you in the least precarious posistion on the negative. If it's still shit and you're not able to progress in weight switch to heel elevated squat or something similar until you can squat deeper and then work on getting those heels lower. Split squats like deep step up should not be treated as a beginner lift. It is a demanding lift for form perfectionist as part of wider selection of leg work not the sole event.

You can do it this way if you baby weight it. It's more a mobility exercise than a muscle building one at that point though. Any significant loading is going to mandate stopping at 90 degrees unless you're a midget.

no

>just squat

You're doing it right, but you need to keep going.

Your nervous system is basically saying: "Is this really worth it? I'm not going to adjust to this unless I'm forced to". Normally if you have a lion charging at you, you can't really go "ugh I'm really not in the mood today". You fight it off, use a significant amount of strength and energy, and because you survive, your nervous system will adapt in anticipation of the next lion.

The feeling you describe is the very threshold your nervous system is imposing on you. The trick is to fall in love with that feeling. You aren't working out for certain gains, you're working out to be able to endure and push through that feeling. The gains come anyway.

Once you get used to it, you'll become addicted to the feeling.
