I was never good at it as a kid and I'm even worse now. Amazing cardio though.

You can just jump the arms don't do a whole lot here.

Go buy a thick shock absorbing jumprope mat park it in front of your tv and you got some of the world's cheapest cardio don't even need shoes. Set a metronome on your phone or something just loud enough to barely hear it and keep pace. Then up the pace as able or jump higher.

I've been doing it for 2 months and I still mess up the basic skip.
Why is it so hard bros?

You've legit got to practice so much to get the coordination to do the boxer skip. Practicing the 3 step without the rope helped me a lot but I still struggle to get it down.

I find it a lot more fun to have the rope though. I want to spend less time on screens so I just pop in some music and go. Having to coordinate the rope helps keep me focused enough to not be bored which is great.

Should I do this instead of going for a walk?

I did when my city got a plague of personal electronic vehicles on sidewalks.

And? Were you better or worse off?
>>

I find it a bit boring it worked well enough to get me back in shape to run but now it's something I only do when it rains because I'd rather just go for a run.

Do both if you can. They're way different intensities.

Is it better to skip as fast as possible for short intervals or more moderate for longer?

lol same
I got a jumprope a couple months back and it's good cardio but definitely boring, rather go for a run same as you.
