>Who is /fat/ for?
For Desert destroyers who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

How many kinds of meals do you cook for yourself? Obviously seasoning stuff makes things taste better but as I saw from some of what you said it's the boredom that is getting to you. I tend to vary what I make for myself and then I usually have a couple of lazy things (still keeping in line with maintaining my deficit) that I can just whack in the oven/microwave on days I can't be bothered to make stuff.
>>
> 5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

I've been looking at MacroFactor. Is it good?
>>
>>77259379
I live with my family. They can only make one sort of healthy food. Everything else is way too much carbs and/or oil.
>>
Startet almost exactly a year ago at 114 KG and about 40% bf, now sitting at 81 KG and about 17% bf. Lifting heavy since october last year, using my bike almost exclusively now for going places. Sleeping better, feeling energized. We're all going to make it, bros.
>>
>>77259391
very nice
>>
>>77259382
Honestly you're going to have to learn to make stuff for yourself, you can't trust other people making stuff because of the reasons you've said. Even adjusting meals that you've seen your family make can go a long way in reducing calories and adjusting dishes to be healthier.
>>
>>77259370
>Guys, when you've become so used to the taste of good food and stuffing yourself, how do you go back to normal portions? I tried to eat normal food and it felt bland. When I try eating smaller portions, I feel like I'm still hungry.
You relearn (or perhaps just learn for the first time) to like regular healthy food by discipline. It's a mindset thing.
>good food
Here you mean literal goyslop when good food is actually nutritious, as unprocessed as possible, home cooked, preferably cheap and quick to make (or reheat). Oily high carb & high fat slabs of e-coli and boogers & cum with HFCS frosting doesn't qualify as 'good', and I'd argument it doesn't even qualify as 'food'.
>Another problem is, when I'm dieting, my mood becomes much more worse and I become more irritable.
When you start moving more and eating healthier your big boy tantrums start to die down. Your body will shower you with feel good hormones, and your mind will love the freedom capability and purity brings.
>>
Breakfast today I ate 3 hard boiled eggs and some plant-based sausages (I was curious what they would be like).

178cm. I cut out alcohol by a huge margin (only a few beers twice a month) and tried to aim for a 700kcal deficit. Statistics show me averaging intakes at 1657kcal whereas my modestly calculated TDEE averaged at 2184 so I am not that far off, which is good. Just keep doing what you're doing and maybe fine tune it.

it truly doesn't matter, there are 10 million options and the only difference is that each has its own preexisting database of food to look up so you don't have to type in the nutrition facts yourself
choose one from the op based on how each is described or just use that one that you found yourself, and if you're dissatisfied with how often you have to add food to the database yourself or something about the ui then try another one

I'd like to recommend 'Food You' too, its FOSS too, and feels like a clone of Cronometer.
https://github.com/maksimowiczm/FoodYou
https://f-droid.org/packages/com.maksimowiczm.foodyou/

I like it better than Waistline, find it easier to use, that said if you like waistline by all means keep using it. No one ever brings it up but I found it on F-Droid and think its great, it replaced Cronometer as my default tracker since it does everything it did without any of ads or subscription faggotry.

I gained ~2 inches since I had a huge fupa, but now I also have loose skin there so it doesn't look very good, but now my dick IS visually longer than it was before because, not because my dick is any larger itself, just more of what I already had sticks out of my body, so the number increased when measured from base to tip, but now its got like a drape of skin over half of that new length so its kinda a wash on the visual department.

>>77260913
That's the databases, you're going to run into that problem with any of the open source apps. Whats different is you're making the account here to use them (if you choose to) and its not also sending all your info to their server and then selling that info to third parties on top of charging you a monthly subscription to use half the features like with the non-foss apps.

I've been watching anime or playing video games with my brother. The usual just not sitting idle.

My warm-up run still feels way more taxing but burns negligible calories, while the biking is pretty chill but burns way more.

>but how does it compare for muscle loss?
muscle loss is mostly a meme. if you're using them to workout lightly or walking, you won't lose them.
you'll need to differentiate between actual muscle and lean mass. the latter includes everything except fat. even water.
i'm averaging less than 70g of protein per day and my (unimpressive) lifts are increasing.
>maybe I should.be more gentile than 5 day fasts?
no. you're ok jewst the way you are if you can actually fast.

FINALLY managed to stop drinking, so I can start going the gym again. I really didn't think I was an alcoholic until I tried to stop, its such a fucking chore convincing myself not to buy vodka every time I go grocery shopping.

Fucking five weeks wasted with little to no exercise and roughly a hundred million extra calories consumed, and now I have to start from scratch again. fml

Watch HBOs Risky Drinking to steer you away from it forever. I watch it once a year with a bottle of Captain Morgan Gold!

My mum died from alcohol related issues, I doubt a tv show is going to be more effective than that. I'm a fucking disgrace
>>
>>77261228
Just watch the documentary - your mum dying clearly has had no effect on your drinking. Don't fear to see what the spiritus demon looks like.

and yeah alcohol is such a gains demon. I'm glad I stopped but I have to remind myself how shitty it makes me feel or I'll start up again

Do you remind yourself by going on a binge bender every now and then? :^)

What ive been doing for a week so far and will do for the next month or 2
>skip breakfast, drink a cup of coffee with creamer and use zyn to cope with hunger
>eat sandwich for lunch that is around 530 cals
>lift weights after work(ideally 6x a week), spend at least 10 minutes on stair machine at end of workout
>go home and eat the rest of my calories(around 1400), a chunk of meat and a side of potato or whatever
I am trying to go from 230 pounds to 200, after that I will try to bulk up by eating a lot of protein and lifting heavier. Am already shifting around 225 pounds, which means I can max bench my body weight yay. I really need to buy a scale so I can be more accurate in counting calories, ive never gotten much into CICO before because it seems like a lot of work if you are cooking anything that has more than 3 ingredients. Feeling hungry now motivates me because I feel like im actively improving, hopefully im not fucking up my math otherwise this hunger will be for naught.
